Rovers goal

some good football played to score that goal, the Derby defence were turned inside out, that sort of football will have the fans off their seats.

Agree. Normally at a pre-season home friendly if we score I tend to just applaud and get on with him but that goal had me on my feet.

All three players involved showing exactly the class we have in this team. Nice for May to be involved in it. Thought he looked good last night.

I am glad you brought up the goal, it was pure class. If that's the quality of football we play with this squad this season I am more than happy if we  stay in the 1st division.

Copps   to  Rowe (he lets it through his legs) to Alfie, Alfie first touch to Rowe, Rowe controls the ball then side foots it in the goal.  Now that is pure class against a defence that shut us out in the first half.

Its the first friendly game I have thoroughly enjoyed, well just the second half really.

Rowe had tried it earlier letting it run through his legs towards Marquis but Derby intercepted that one. Absolute class goal when it worked second time

Rowe is a very good player.  Probably one of our best.

First goal Derby have conceded in pre-season, apparently.

They've only played the Dog and Duck and the Red Lion.

They are on the Derby official website.

I hope we see many more like that this season. I love it when they make defenders from higher opposition look like donkeys!

very good goal from Rovers. Precise passing in a tight box, and good to see Copps, May and Rowe all on the same wavelength already.

There was another passage of play similar to that, which resulted in Copps having a half hit shot, it should have been brought back for a penalty though, as Blair was brought down in the box

Really good well worked goal, just goes to show the lads are putting it in on the training pitch, reminded me of the goal at home to Pompey last season.

Superbly worked goal but again we went behind first to a set piece header - we are gong to have the same old problem this season of not properly defending set pieces balls into the box. Surely DF needs to continue the hunt for a big bully boy central defender to stop opposition having an easy time from set piece kicks. Steven Taylor will be a decent addition to our squad but we still need a player that is going to make it difficult for opposition to boss us in the box- a Rob Jones type player would fit the bill!!

We probably have the on-pitch personnel capable of good defence but they need somebody to coach and organise them.  Spend a bit on employing a decent defensive coach, probably a good deal cheaper than paying for a quality defender who can't do it on his own when nobody around him knows the ropes.

That's a fair comment and another positive way to potentially address the problem - but if we don't get something done I do fear we will leak more goals similar to the Derby one.

Some of our supporters have kittens every time we concede a corner or a free kick which results in a ball being delivered into our box.
We are not as bad as is bring made out here.
I bet we scored as many, if not more,  as we gave away from set pieces last season.
Don't forget that fans of other teams will be crapping themselves when we get free kicks and corners.
