Interesting- does this mean that Shaun Lockwood is moving on?
-
It does I'm afraid.
-
Not surprising really. He would be an asset to any club.
-
is it his choice
-
is it his choice
Yes it definitely was.
-
Yep it is - he wants less hours closer to his young family and is taking up a similar position in a business/company near his home base!
-
Bit strange that as Homebase is only about a mile from the ground :coat:

-
All these changes at the club make me wonder what is going on. I'm sure many others feel the same. The situation is starting to get on our Wickes.
-
Dont worry though lads and lasses we can do it if we B&Q it
-
Said Steve Uttley would not be the last. I know that it is Shauns choice in this instance but I cannot help but see that this comes so soon after Steve, s departure. It has come as no surprise to me as I said in my rant at the time Shaun was not happy at Steve going I fear he has been left with too much to do and not enough to do it with I liked the bloke and I wish him well. There are also 2 other people going this month but cannot say until it is announced officially. It makes you wonder what is going on.
-
It seems to me that the Focus is on saving money.
-
Its not the work load he's concerned about, nor is it any kind of back-room issue. The club is probably better run today than its ever been.
Shaun is doing what we all do, he's looking at what's best for him and for his young family. Working for a football club involves unsociable hours, I would suggest that's the major reason.
If its some kind of cost cutting exercise, then why advertise two jobs are available and seek to grow the department?
-
If they are not cutting costs then why did they get rid of Steve?. When asked at the Retford branch agm Gavin Baldwin said in all industries costs had to be saved while not singling any one out but that was the reason.
-
Whatever the outcome of the comings and goings we can only hope it Texas to the promised land.
-
There's a difference between cost cutting and value for money???
-
Yes, you just have to look at the first team to see that!
-
Please explain.
-
Maybe its a big job that takes more than one person to Do It All
-

No! I reckon reducing costs is the general Ikea.
-
Can't we just stick to the topic? All these dreadful puns are really getting on my Wickes.
-

These passing Fads are undermining the club.
-
who a passing Fads
-
A prog rock group from out Maltby way!
-
On the serious side the club marketing, media and communication department is now rudderless. The point that it is better run than it ever was is questionable. It seems to be the biggest cause of criticism on here than any other topic. I cannot understand why they need to have two departments with seperate budgets ie commercial and marketing that surely would work better together. If the two combined they would work perfectly hand in hand by exchanging ticket and sponsor promotions in exchange for advertising and promoting the the club..
-
who going
-
I feel sad that Shaun is leaving too. I always find him willing to listen to ideas and criticisms and to give straight answers . He is able to inform you about what is going on without betraying any information best kept in house and confidential ... the mark of an honest pro . I know he thinks highly of the club and his colleagues and hope the club allow and encourage him to say a few words to fans on DROS before he leaves .
-
who going
-
Perhaps the club is having a clear out to bring in fresh blood. In most organisations people move on, or are moved on and fresh people/ideas are brought in. It's known as clearing out the drift 'would' and cling ons!!
Not saying any of these people fall into that catogary but things have to be kept fresh.
-
I'd hope something is put out on DROS as well. He's one of the good guys and will be missed. Without him IRWT would never have got going. His patience with TLO myself and a few others is a credit to him as well ;)
-
who going
-
Shaun Lockwood
-
someone sad 2 moer r going
-
Some people talk crap, some people are bitter, some people talk the truth.
You never really know until things happen and you see it for yourself....
-
who going deebee
-
FFS Why can't some folk accept Shaun has made a lifechoice. He's been working unsociable hours for a long time. He was always on duty when the likes of us were bugging him. Good luck to him in a normal job. Why does there have to be a conspiracy.
-
wot about the over 2 that going
-
Bfdoncaster west - Shaun Lockwood is going as a decision of his own no one else! As always people on this forum think there is some big hidden agenda and some big conspiracy theory but as usual no its just a normal bloke in a job moving on!! End of!!
-

Yeah as you keep saying. Yet still there feels like a lack of direction/leadership from the outside looking in. Im not saying the baord need to be as outspoken as JR was. But some sort of comment every now and again would be brilliant!
-
RJ, I wouldn't disagree with that, it's a point I've made to the club. Having said that I stand by previous comment.
-
Well we have a few self proclaimed marketing experts amongst us, maybe one would like to apply and show us all how its done ;)
-

Exactly. Some folks on here are quick to jump on the club for perceived failings in marketing and communications yet now there are some having a go at the club for making changes.

Deebee,It always amazes me how people can come to these opinions without no knowledge of any of the facts..I've just made someone redundant who had been here for a long time and there in lied the problem..I decided his department needed a restructure and although he was good at his original job,he couldn't adapt to the change,he had been here that long he couldn't change the way he did things he was too set in his ways..So sometimes these things have to be done...From the outside it looked harsh but that's the way it goes, things move on..I'm not saying that was the case with Steve as I don't know what that situation was..The only people who really know are the people who deal with it on a daily basis and there opinion is what matters...People move on from jobs all the time and how people can just assume that Shauns gone because he was unhappy is folly..

Tbh Wingco in this instance I think Deebee would have a pretty fair knowledge of the facts

Totally agree and I look forward to reading Shaun's parting words on DROS sometime in 2016.

Maybe he has,of course that's hard to know without knowing him or his connections..I DO know that whilst a lot of people thought Steve was doing a great Job others weren't quite so impressed..However unless Shaun has told him personally that the two things are linked I still think its a quick and easy link to make....The point still stands though and it certainly wasn't meant at Deebee alone..People have come up with all kind of conspiracy theorys on the Steve Uttley situation and then decide its fact..

Shaun has just tweeted the following:
Seen a few conspiracy theories on @vscofficial that I'm leaving because I'm unhappy with the club or that it's due to my workload....
Sorry but nothing could be further from the truth, simply want to spend more weekends & evenings with this fella [picture of his son]
Have genuinely loved & still love working for the club, there are some great people @drfc_official but it's time for me to move on
I know the club are going to ensure fan engagement remains high on the agenda for my replacement. #IRWT #drfc

Should put it to bed once and for all :aok:
-
Hooray for Shaun and best of luck to him.

Nope, he's obviously been water boarded into tweeting that! :)

who is replacement

Had the pleasure of a call from Shaun this morning telling me his news and reflecting what he's tweeted. A sign of his high regard for the club and us fans that he chose to contact some of us personally. He said he'll continue to keep in touch and may put his two penneth in from time to time from a supporters perspective. Just make sure he pays his subs!

Bit strange that as Homebase is only about a mile from the ground :coat:

Obviously got some advice from Adebayo Akinfenwa
-
why not gave him free subs!

Could be an idea Brendan. Honourary member?

I've had a few calls from Shaun recently regarding the Rovers player issues, he always came across as honest, open and genuine in our conversations, I wish him well in his future career path
-

It's Frosty's golden opportunity! ;)
-
Why pick out Frosty? I am sure there are plenty on here who would consider themselves better.
-
Because he's the one who has consistently criticised the way things are done. This is his perfect opportunity to do things his way!
-
I think Lockwood probably started to look for other jobs when he had to take on the role of communications manager while still being in charge of the marketing department.
Far from spending more time with his family it meant he had to deal with the press and travel the length and breadth of the country to away matches which he didn't do before.
The whole problem stems from the ridiculous decision to merge the marketing and media departments...and now both Uttley and Lockwood have gone.
I still find it strange that Uttley should be given the boot and then we are advertising for another communications assistant in addition to Lockwood's job.
Is someone else leaving or have those in charge suddenly realised it's harder to manage the workload that was undertaken by Uttley than they previously thought?

Hasn't your person in the know told you?

Deebee, Rovers fans in complaints over marketing and publicity of the club express shock at members of media team leaving..... yes agree with that famous bloke, was it Saturday Santa?

I know, it's ridiculous, but you never know.
What about the 15th minute of the next home game we all begin a chant of There's only one ...

A Gent - Mr Lockwood
-
I got the measure of Shaun a couple of years ago.
I'd had a shite of a week and was trying to book tickets for me a Stubbs-Tears jnr for a match. But the website was down and the ticket office phone was going straight to voicemail.
After an hour of cursing, I wrote an embarrassing tirade on here, slagging off everything about the club.
Within 10 mins, I'd received a PM from Shaun, personally offering to sort out my tickets and apologising for the IT systems that the club had inherited from the previous KMS management company.
A gent who clearly cared about what he was trying to do. You can't ask for more than that. In fact, d**kheads like me shouldn't expect to get a service like that.
If you're reading this Shaun, I wish you well in whatever you are going into. You care about what you do and that's the most that anyone can ask for.
-
I hope you stay on the forum Shaun .. good luck and fortune in your new job and thanks for all your thoughtfulness.
-

I've been thinking similar Bob.
I've made apologies for my reaction to these posts but I sometimes wonder......
-
It seems to me that the Focus is on saving money.
It seems to me that the focus is on...................people that can deliver in their current functions.
Just my opinion but the areas we have struggled to look efficient in are being addressed. The old boys club much favoured by JR is finally being eradicated.
However Shaun was thought of as one of the 'good guys' due to IRWT.
-
In the past there was little evidence of structured strategies, action plans and monitoring in the organisation . There is now evidence of a much more professional approach to the way the club goes about it's business .Some folk adapt accordingly to having to plan and report their activities other than by an occasional chat to the top man which I suspect used to go on in our 'good old days' . Shaun 's leaving message in which he praises the people in the club is also very reassuring as is the club's recognition of him on DROS.
