Well i've done my Home Work (3 mins) and as it stands right now the top 4 in L1 have a total of 10 loans between them , The top 2 only have 4 between them, with second place Peterborough only having 1 and he's from Huddersfield. So IMHO it looks like he's placed to much faith in the high quality loan market and it's back fired massively. Let's see if gets his fingers burnt again next season.I hope who ever is the new Manager makes a stand and limits the Loans to 3.The club want to run a squad on loan signings and short term contracts for players we sign. Can anyone give me any examples of other clubs where this model has been successful?Blackpool got into the prem doing this.. Only the oywstons greed destroyed it. Blackpool did do that but the quality of there loans were far better than we have got, they also signed Charlie Adam that year, loans are a good thing used correctly Among our loans we have:A curent full InternationalA player signed by a PL club in 2019 for £2.5 millionA player from a PL club reputedly for sale at Christmas for £1.6million who has been our best player (when fit)An England International at 3 Youth LevelsWe could sign better than those for a fee could we?No , but i never said ditch the loans ,i said stick to 3 loans ,and i'd take the top 3 you mentioned no problem.

I think it would be short sighted of our supporters to think that the club are not aware of their current options.
We don’t need to change much at all, but we do need to change. Loan players are great, but let’s have a smaller number and have them regularly involved adding value, rather than padding out the squad. The ‘try before you buy’ model isn’t working. Only John has signed. We have missed out on the vast majority of those we have loaned. We could probably push the boat out with at least a a few long term deals for consistently high performers, not least so we get value in a Whiteman sale situation. An example is I think we gave Anderson a two year extension. Why not three? Nothing massive but that added layer of security. The loans cannot be keepers. This serves no purpose at all. They have been good but not great and any benefit is outweighed by the disruption. Our new defence needs to have a good solid keeper investment.

Alcock 200. Anderson was 25 and had been on loan eight times. Rowe was 28 and had played nearly 300 league games. Our current model is to 'try before you buy' with very young and unproven players from the Premier League. Very different.
