new carrier to Robin hood
« on November 02, 2015, 09:17:21 am by auckleyflyer »
Flybe to announce today that two aircraft are to be based out of robin hood.
Up to 44 flights a week and a mis of business and bucket and spade.
An operation the size of Thomson. And will see passenger nos rise to their highest in the airports history.
So much going on with the freight side of things and discussion's with another carrier for 2017 season well down the line.
Think we've weathered the storm and its full speed ahead.
Iv certainly seen more projects and investment in the last 6months than I have in the ten yrs before it.
With the road and rail port coming its good good news.

Do you know any destinations?

The next step would be to make prices from the airport competative with other regional airports. East Mids and Leeds Bradford are my preferred choices at the moment due to flights out of Donny being too dear

Destinations announced next week.

Its a great step forward.  I love flying from Robin Hood.  Never any queues, hold-ups or issues, and through security in minutes.  Top class.

Flybe have been there a while flying to jersey and belfast but its great news they are stepping up services.

Could lead to a snowball effect once one airline has a big showing rivals will start coming in

They stopped the Belfast flights over 3 years ago ( mores the pity ) they said it wasn't cost effective. I'll ask on Thursday when I'm on one of their flights from Leeds

Hi, all I was told is its a mix of euro hubs pos London city airport and a few holiday destinations in summer. So good but not maybe the competition required to drive down prices! A good start and hopefully the snowball effect will follow. I do believe That for the first time peel want it and will get the business.
Lots going on with freight and the land around the airport too.
Buzz around the place again that's been missing for 7-8 yrs .

Filo I'm flying out to Zante with Thomson from Donny next year as it is now cheaper than other Airports, flew from Manchester this year due to the cost so it looks as if this is being addressed.

Tends to be reasonable for a package but if you want just a flight it isn't.

We flew to Dalaman in Turkey last year and was amazed it was significantly cheaper than any other airport.

Mind, for the reasons already mentioned it's well worth a few quid more than any other airport, then there's the saving on travel/car parking.  Less than a tenner for taxi from Armthorpe and takes minutes.

Just had a look at a few example prices. You can get..

Amsterdam return - £94
Paris return - £93
Newquay return - £71
Berlin return - £120

Not bad at all.

Newquay good for Cornwall Holidays maybe

Fly down and back - hire Car waiting ... result if affordable and no boring 6 hours or so in Car as only driver

Not bad prices really considering low cost travel and parking.

I went Germany last weekend but my t**t of a mate booked it from Heathrow. Pain in the arse, I can't wait to go some of these places.

Once the new road has opened the airport will only be about 10 minutes from my door, excited by the prospect of decent city breaks without the need to travel ages to an airport.

Dam return for £94 is spot on. Been once on the ferry and that was enough. Enjoyable. But enough.
