Maybe Gillet has had his chance?

Only 14 fit players - that's about 20 injured then!

Good to see him back - playing a midfielder in midfield rather than a defender could be a radical move - other teams may follow.

Poor Wilson gets a rough ride doesn't he. He's average, but not the terrible player people try to make him out to be. OK, so he's no George Friend, running silkily down the wing, threading needle like passes through to the forwards and making precision tackles, while making running not look like he's had a double knee replacement...the day before the match, but he is ok at tackling, passing, being around where he's supposed to be.

Thing is, Goulon is better. But if the midfield was - Goulon, Wilson, Woods, with Diouf just in front, like on Saturday, it could do a good solid job.

And on Goulon. I thought he was a little unfit, but he knew where to be didn't he and he can tackle. Also he got forward more in one game than any of our central midfielders have in the past 2 years! When he's fit the midfield will be a much safer place for Rovers.

I would like him in the midfield actually, from what ive heard he was good at walsall, instead of gillett
a midfield 3 of goulon stock and wilson would be allright for me

I would say that even Wilson is better than Gillett. For me, Gillett is in the same league as that other midfield great - Uros Predic.

Sorry I would rate Wilson above Gillett .....sadly SG just runs around for the sake of it and we can all do that!

Not all of a teams central midfields must get forward. Take Stock for instance, his game isn't about making bursting runs from the middle, his game is to sit and distribute and put the odd tackle in when required, a job may I add he does particularly well. Only my opinion of course.

Nah. It'd be a bit fickle to turn on Gilly after a few bad games, wouldn't it? :chair:

Unfortunately, it has become acceptable (and even slightly fashionable) on this forum to slate Gillett, but any slight criticism of our friend Wilson and you get shot down in flames.

Thats just ridiculous, personally I rate them both and agree with you that Gillett is being rated harshly but to say Wilson is some kind of forum favourite is garbage. Any criticism of Wilson was positively encouraged at one point! What Gilly gets now is nothing on that.

I would have to reluctantly agree.
