Post by: graingrover on October 31, 2012, 07:21:57 pm: I can't honesly recall ... was only about 8 or 9 yrs at time but I will look in my old Rovers programmes .. I know he played for the Reserves at age 15 and broke into first team at 16.

Post by: graingrover on October 31, 2012, 07:26:44 pm: the best Donny Boys team got to the English schools final ( against Brierley Hill) and they all joined the Rovers Juniors in the Northern Intermediate League the year after . I was lucky enough to play in that team with them in 1958 and 59. The best of those players were Johnny Billings and Fairhurst . Rovers coaches at the time were very poor and they developed nobody.
