All 3 goals were good goals. The Wilks-Copps one was a belter.

Also sounds like the players showed their class in dedicating the goals and win to our recently departed.

Reading the Wallsall forum. Mixed - some say we deserved it. More say the ref was terrible and everything we tried came off. Apparently two of their players were fighting.... classic

Another very good away result and performance to match, when all the team played very well against a good Walsall team who were left somewhat in tatters, and arguing between themselves on the field near the end.
Every player deserved the man of the match award, so I am not going to pick anyone, but pick out a couple of crucial moments in the game,
Marosi made another magnificent save with the game poised after half time, and a real team goal for our second goal, a passing movement and a great strike by Mallick Wilkes putting our noses in front, and the clinical finish by Coppinger, who even in celebration had a thought for a young departed supporter. If nothing else the club has class, and we can be proud of it.
All in all an entertaining day.

Alfies assist for the 4th. Sold him down their full back down the river, then drilled it across.

Class.

I had to take a second look before realising it was May. Wow, that was an incisive run and cross. Well done that man. Good finish from Blair too!

Monkcaster, it is hard to mention everything that was good play as there was quite a few, both blocking in defence and some of the passing movements further up the field.
Everyone played well, May tracked back covered Mason with a great tackle worthy of a defender in another move, it was a great second half all round team effort.

This is obviously a result of the extra training that May is putting in, becoming more aware of his surroundings. I loved that we were still pushing for a fourth even though we were cruising at 3-1

May now looks a very effective impact player. I also thought Jermaine Anderson did well when he came on.

Grant McCann has improved every player in the squad, Anderson being the latest.

It was nice to see Malik showing awareness and unselfishness to lay a great pass to Copps for the third. Either side of that was a superb through ball from Whiteman to get Malik on his way to a good finish and then Alfie 'doing a Messi' and then cutting a great ball back to where both Marquis and (eventually) Blair was waiting to gobble up the chance. 3 good finishes that would grace any game.

Great to see us getting more than one player in the box when we are getting crosses in there.
It didn’t happen much in the last couple of years.

Hound, that has been the main difference in the away games at Peterborough and Walsall, the full backs have kept their wide players pinned back mostly and have got forward themselves, and the midfielders have joined the attacks whenever possible, with one prepared to run beyond the front two, Coppinger and the other two cover the runner, and that is where Blair is at his best, and Coppinger becomes functional in a more central position and gets on the ball.
Some of the close passing in central midfield with Kane, Whiteman, and Coppinger pulled the Walsall  midfield all over the place at times, as they did at Peterborough with Rowe in there as the runner.
Mason and Andrew have been great at giving them the option of men wide with Marquis and Wilks running the channels.
In those two games we have been very good.

Selby, I mentioned on the Luton thread that some of the one touch, quick and incisive passing between Copps and Herbie was a joy to watch.
It is great to watch good players doing good things.
