Sunderland AFC (First Team) v Doncaster Rovers FC (First Team)
Football League 1
Referee: Woolmer, Andy
Assistant Referee: McGrath, Matthew
Assistant Referee: Dwyer, Mark
Fourth Official: Backhouse, Anthony
Not happy with that!

Oh Christ.
-
Well, it will be on the telly so at least everyone else will see how crap he is.
-
Hell fire
I think he has the worst 2 Points totals since records began
Last time v Scunny he had 41 people give him NIL - and the time before v Rochdale it was over 30 people whi gave him NIL

I suppose it is possible he'll be on his best behaviour. Personally I'm surprised a top flight referee wasn't appointed.
-
Utter tool who chickened out of every major decision if it didn't favour the home side.
-
Absolute joke.
-
Utter *anker
-
NIL ... So he was as bad as us
-
One of the most inept ref performances I have ever seen.
My blood pressure is just coming down to somewhere near normal.
-
Doesn't even deserve the zero. Garbage.
-
Effing useless, poor from the first minute to the last
COYR
-
An absolute disgrace.

Worst ref in the league, by far. I've never seen him officiate a game where I thought he didn't get at least 2 key decisions wrong. He just bottles all the big decisions in the final third and gives soft free kicks in the middle third.

He makes Boyeson, Salisbury senior and Haines look like decent referees. He's awful and for once I agree with Neil Warnock - refereeing standards have never been lower. They need to get rid of Mike Riley as head of referees, put someone like Martin Atkinson or Mark Clattenburg in charge, and give them the power to sack bad referees.
One thing I'd do is to encourage ex-players to become referees. It works well with cricket umpires. It would be good to have someone who understands football refereeing a game with a degree of empathy. They'd probably be a lot fitter than the likes of Woolmer who was way behind play when Marquis was fouled on the edge of the box. Of course, Sunderland went up the other end and scored.

If there was a minus points category, I’d vote in that. Zero it has to be. Needs demoting to tiddlywinks or something.

.......and on that last point, despite people saying the refs are not at fault for a poor team display, they do have a big impact on the outcome of games.
Had he given that free kick early on, Sunderland wouldn’t have gone up and scored as they did.
So the game starts differently.
Also If he had given the pen on Butler and we had scored to make it 2-1 with 20 minutes to play then we may have gone on to get a point.
Conjecture?
Obviously yes but poor officials do influence the way games turn out.

... and not just for the two Teams involved either. SAFC justifiably won yesterday as we were poor but as you say give the Marquis foul and it would have altered the game even if we shot over the Bar
Give the Butler Pen and if we score who knows 2 - 1 with 20 to go. Squeaky bum time for them and maybe an unlikely draw but it happens
So all other Teams are affected too - Barnsley and Pompey especially. SAFC now right on BFC tail thanks to those extra 2 points. Wonder what Tyke reckons. We still go on about the Dunk tackle and the Charlton abandonment and how our Season(s) were subsequently affected. So that could be what others will think - even though they are not playing their own "fate" is still altered. I realise this happens each week at every kind of ground but it needs sorting
Yesterday 2 keepers caught Balls in similar situations outside the area - one got a straight Red the other (Owl) got a yellow - NO CONSISTENCY.
The only time you see some kind of consistency is when Player takes shirt off and 99.9 % of them are awarded a Yellow Card - all other offences vary Ref to Ref and often vary within a Game by the Ref on duty
It stinks and should be fixed
