I don't think there's anything surprising in that, apart from Colin making it public..

Of course it is. What Mr w**ker's said is perfectly correct. No point loaning a kid out to get game time only for him to get splinters in his arse.

This is probably more common than we think but is never made public like this obviously.

I'd put a lot of money on there being a clause in Grant's loan that said he plays if fit...

We had the same with Ryan Kent last season, for a couple of month he was shocking didn’t deserve a shirt, but rumours started to surface that we’d entered an agreement similar to this one Cardiff have, it worked out well for us and Ryan in the end as he got better towards the end of his spell with us and deserved his starting place, all youngsters need games under their belt to improve and get up to standard, but football is all about results, and it’s easy to sacrifice a youngster career in search of points. I wish one or two of our own youngsters could get similar agreements.

I think we had the same, from Chelsea, with Harry Worley.

I would expect it to occur more, the less of their wages you're paying.

It says “financially punished”. That will mean pay all of his wages. Hardly a punishment I think, when they are getting a player out of their usual price range.

What kind of message does it send out to the youngers they will just think wherever they go they have a right to be in the first team and not actually work as hard as they would if they knew they had to earn the right to be in the starting 11. Probably why half the English youngers don't make it in the premier league.
