There is no point in a winter break in England - the really cold and bad weather over winter is too unpredictable to plan ahead.  The next weekend of fixtures is in March, with potential for may games to be off.

It’s not to avoid bad weather though.

A winter break to benefit the national team, give over, the best sides are packed full of French, Belgians, Germans & Spanish.

This week is a prime example of the winter break being a waste of time. This midweek would be set aside for catch up games which would be off, followed by the weekends games being off as well.

They don’t need a winter break.  It pathetic. They want to try getting a proper job and working for a living. It’s beyond me. Getting paid a shed load of money for a dream job and you want a bit of a. Break because your legs are tired.  Not for me

No I don’t but they’re meant to be professional full time athletes.  Playing a game 3 days after another shouldn’t be an issue. That’s why clubs have squads. I have no sympathy. Players of old coped on sxxt pitches  I think Derby won the league using 14 players.

There's not going to be any games crammed in they're just having the fa cup midweek.
Every other country does it, nobody is suggesting it will make us win the World Cup.
But our best players always look knackered by the time the World Cup comes around so what's the harm in seeing if it makes a difference?
