Not only is Doncaster famous for its people, it is also renowned for its products. For instance Caster oil was found on the bed of the river Don by early settlers of the town.
Not fully understanding its use many of them drank it excessively, making them ill.
Soon after, to treat the epidemic of poorly locals, the Don Caster oil infirmary was opened.

Does anyone know of any more local products?

We're famous for Butterscotch of course, sometimes known as 'Royal Doncaster Butterscotch'.

Mrs Betty Harvey from Bentley developed a cream to sooth breast feeding women's nipples a few years back. Sales of Harvey's Bristol cream continues to increase to this day.

Nuttall's Mintoes as well as the Parkinson's Butterscotch.  A boon to dentists everywhere.  Are the Nuttalls houses down bennetthorpe still there?

Does anyone know why Donny had a thriving sweet industry?  I thought that business was more of a Quaker thing with Rowntrees at York, Cadburys in Brum etc?

ex Rovers player who played cricket for England?

Chris Balderstone. :)

Can you name the other three players who appeared for Rovers in the Football League and also played first-class cricket?

Ted Hemsley is one.:)

Correct. Of the other two, one is extremely obscure (I only discovered that he played first-class cricket by chance) but the other \"posts\" on here from time to time.

Any more offers on the cricketers? Four men have played League Football for Rovers and also played first-class cricket. Two are Chris Balderstone and Ted Hemsley. And the other two are...?

Otherwise I'll have to put you out of your misery!
