At long last we can start to move forward.
The last 2 weeks have been lost in my opinion so the sooner he starts to get last years players re-signed the better.
Then he can start to talk to other players.

Better to take the time to get the right players than rush into signing the wrong ones! Just hope we get them!

There's always competition for good players,this pre season will be no different,i'd be more worried if we sign players without any competition for their signature,though like the rest of you all i'm impatient for Smoke signals from the Keepmoat,and the Head Injun' John Ryan saying we've signed a Great player

Sign 3 players early on 5k a week there you have approx 3-4 weeks of wages so around 60k that you'd pay out for the players to be on holiday.  Not to mention that you've still got to pay the players you're releasing M/G Woods etc until their contracts are up, so financially you're better off waiting, hence why most clubs do and have.

You can't pay players wages that are still contracted to other clubs up until the end of July. So that argument I don't think is really a fair one. It wouldn't surprise me if deals most clubs do are formalised early June or July, ready to announce once they become free agents.
