Any info on his injury?
-
I would think if it was broken we'd know by now. I expect they are waiting for any swelling to go down before doing an MRI for ligament damage. Fingers crossed it's just swelling.
-
Has to be ligament judging by the way he reacted holding upper lower leg. Fingers crossed for the lad it's not long lasting whatever it is.
-
Some respects a break is better than ligament damage
Know that from experience, apparently I was tripped by a stray crisp packet
Hope he's back soon been impressed with the lad this season
-
It was nice while it lasted he's a great shot stopper . It's bite your finger nails form here on in if we don't get a useful replacement.

ligament damage is usually worst than a break
-
I don't know if I've missed anything but I haven't read anything about his injury and the severity. Does anyone have any news
-
I think it will depend on the amount of swelling when scan can be done.
It will probably been X Rayed on Thursday night so I suspect there is no break unless the information is been kept quiet.
-
He hasn't said anything on twitter about his injury.
-
He hasn't said anything on twitter about his injury.
I imagine they are under fairly strict instructions not to talk about things like that until there's something official from the club.
His girlfriend joked that it was a full time job looking after him, but he'll be non-weight bearing on that leg until it is fully diagnosed anyway.
-
I would be very surprised if it isn't pretty much a season ending injury...wether its a break or not tbh...such a shame for the lad...
-
One things for a sure a new contract will be on the table with him being out of contract in the summer and the club have been busy with new deals for the younger element of the squad.
-
Just read a interview on the free press website were DF states they are hopeful the injury to Marosi isn't to bad after all....Regardless we as fans have a part to play in this...Regardless of if you rate Ross or not,he is going to have a spell as our no1 and that means we have to get behind him and support him and do nothing to effect his confidence...That means a end to the criticism and abuse during games regardless of what happens....That's going to be vital for him as its obviously effected him as DF has intimated before....
-
Agree - constant criticism does nothing positive for any Player and / or the Team itself but I fear there will be those who will exercise their right to write and boo whatever the vast majority think
-
That's going to be vital for him as its obviously effected him as DF has intimated before....
I would have thought being dropped by your manager pretty quickly after making a few errors rather than guiding him through it would have done more to tarnish his confidence.
However I think Fergie saying what he did after the match on Thursday about Ross was top notch!
-

I thought that was very good management at the time as well.
-
Thing is, if Etheridge plays on Saturday, he's going to have to deal with those long throw bombs from all angles. Any keeper, would be under pressure from them!
I wish Marosi a quick recovery though as he's been a revelation so far!

Muggleton hasn't been in the Barnet side for sometime so hopefully Ross won't have to deal with it.
-
I had the thought of deleting the problem and destabilising Barnet which might just have got a bit easier, why doesn't Donny put an enquiry into buying him which probably Barnet may or may not refuse but should upset the applecart, if they refuse nothing lost but if they give permission he would probably not play in case of injury, then Donny could botch the deal OR have a full back that can launch the ball anywhere, Just an idea
-
Don't be fooled by the Barnet we saw at the Keepmoat, they are a totally different team now...They are having a decent run of results and have completely changed there style of play...I'm sure the management team are aware of that but for those going, dont expect long throws or the ball just lumped into the box....

I think he took him out as much to protect him from us as much as for the team..His confidence was shot and he was being heckled at every opportunity..I'm far from convinced with him but only because I haven't seen much to be positive about...
But it should be a clean slate from here...Sing his name when he comes out..Clap him at every opportunity and put him at ease..And then we might see what he's capable off....
-
I think Etheridge will do well for us. It's sad this is how he get's his opportunity but that's football. Marosi has done well for us so far though i haven't been convinced with some things he has done, he has taken his opportunity and proved very good at shot stopping.
Etheridge i have always held the view that he has the ability to be better than Marosi now he get's his chance. Get behind the fella don't get on his back and help the other side.

another scan today i think

We are crap on corners so what makes you think we would be any better with launched ball
-
I was thinking against Pompey how much better we were at dealing with balls into the box.

Dave it is not about us getting him it is about destabilizing Barnet but on his throws, I was thinking more where we have throws in our own half, to quickly turn the tables and turn defence into attack. However if he is not going to play on Saturday then no problem for our lot.

3 months out for Marko;
Doncaster Rovers: Marko Marosi ruled out for three months - Doncaster Free Press (http://www.doncasterfreepress.co.uk/sport/football/doncaster-rovers/doncaster-rovers-marko-marosi-ruled-out-for-three-months-1-8326768)
New signing to come in?
-
Out for 3 months
-
Big loss with the way he's been performing and now a big test of DF's management. Does he bring in a new keeper and risk shattering Etheridge's confidence? Or does he give him a go?
I'd personally give Etheridge the next two games whilst discreetly setting some wheels in motion. If Etheridge performs, great, if not, we should have time to get someone else in.
Question for those who track the rules better than I do - what is the situation with emergency loans these days? If DF decides to give Etheridge a chance, and then he gets injured early Feb, can we still get special dispensation to bring somebody else in?
-
Bring in another keeper anyway with Jones touch and go over the last week. You don't want to be relying on Etheridge not getting injured.
-
I think we need to bring someone in regardless. I would definitely give Ross a shot and hope that his loan spell has given him some confidence (and that the fans support him too!) but we need cover so it may take a Frazer Richardson type contract for an experienced pro to help out until the end of the season.
-
Correct must be experienced
-
Chris Kirkland ?
-
Why sign a renowned injury prone player? I wouldn't.
-
The search is now on for a replacement keeper to compete for the starting spot

-
From Free Press
Rovers boss Darren Ferguson has begun the search for goalkeeping cover and hopes to have a signing in place by Thursday. The new arrival will compete for the starting shirt with Ross Etheridge, who was recalled from his loan with Alfreton Town last week and replaced Marosi in goal against Portsmouth.
-
Would expect Fergie to start Etheridge on Saturday, would hit his confidence even more by bringing in a loan keeper and starting him straight away. Tough first game for him though, with those Barnet throws...
-
There isn't any Barnet throws!!!!!!!!! They are playing a different game from when we saw them...There wont be much long ball from them on Saturday...
-

I know what you mean Mick i hope he is out on satuday
-
That length of time with rehab and getting back up to speed really he is out for the rest of the season. Although Ross deserves a second chance we need to have in place an experienced keeper just in case things don't work out. DF has given numerous players this year their chance to step up to the plate and make the position theirs. It's literally in your own hands now Ross, best of luck

Nick, we need two and no disrespect to young Jones, but there are some brutal fixtures on the way, I currently do not think either of our two remaining keepers will have the mental capacity, we do not want to lose games at this stage, Derby have just brought back Roos ? is it from loan...

Portsmouth of old, two games two crippled to a degree opposing players , ours and the lad from Luton, they trying to kick their way back up

Pompey fan here. Our striker was challenging with a defender and Marosi for the ball, however it was the bad landing that injured him. For the Luton incident, their player injured himself trying to tackle one of ours. We're a dirty team, but we're not trying to cripple players.

Baudry was closest to Marosi.
I personally think that Marko caused his own injury. He didn't jump with his hands in the air to grab the ball as a keeper should. He waited and caught it in his midriff; leading him to fall awkwardly into Baudry and the Pompey player.
-
Would expect phone calls being made to premiership club and championship clubs. TBH I would expect fergie to already have 3 or 4 names ready to call. Could Neil Sullivan come back or is he still coaching with Leeds (as a bench option only)
-
Who was the lad from Villa? Jed Steer? Could be a possibility as they've just got Johnstone.

Steer is injured in training ground incident

I thought he fell badly - I was at the other end of the stadium however..
-
We need to bring in a more experienced keeper than Ross who can go straight into the first team if DF decides.
-
Ross (Turnbull) isn't up to much at the moment is he? Third choice at Leeds I think. Not sure if he's injured, if not I'd have him back here in a heartbeat.
-
2 on a free that stand out with experience is Kirkland and Paul Smith...
Turnbull is a decent shout though.
-
Portsmouth of old, two games two crippled to a degree opposing players , ours and the lad from Luton, they trying to kick their way back up
Pure accident the way I saw it. He landed badly and I feared he'd done his ligaments at the time.
-
It would ruin the confidence of Dame Edna if DF did not start him at Barnet.
No need to rush as the window is open until the end of January so Rovers can give Ross the chance.
No-one knows what Jones is like. He might be the new Dennis Peacock.
Hang on.....big Dennis!
What's he doing these days?

How many more times do I have to say it " KIRKLAND HAS RETIRED"

Yes maybe but who was he under a challenge from, from where I could see (SE COrner) looked like Smith - might be wrong but he certainly did not go for a swan dive without help
-
No room for sentiment, best keeper plays.
-
I don't see the logic in spending money right now on another keeper. Play Etheridge with Louis Jones on the bench. If it's not working out after a couple of games, then may be the time to spend. This could be the making of Etheridge, who I am sure will blossom at some point. It's a gamble to a degree but one worth taking in the bigger scheme of things IMO.
-
Only problem is Jones is injured too isn't he

The manager looks to have made his mind up what we require
Quote from Freepress
Ferguson has commenced the search for goalkeeping cover and hopes to have a signing in place by Thursday.
The new arrival will compete for the starting shirt with Ross Etheridge, who was recalled from his loan with Alfreton Town last week and replaced Marosi in goal against Portsmouth. Ferguson said: "It leaves us with Ross and Louis (Jones).
The reason I brought Ross back was I didn't really want to have to have Louis on the bench, no disrespect to him. "We did our job getting Ross out on loan which has give him a lot more confidence. It got him games and gave him sharpness. "I brought him back for the Portsmouth game and he did very well when he had to come on.
"Certainly, I'll be looking to get one in. "There's a chance it will be before the weekend but you never know. We made one or two calls on Monday and Tuesday and we're waiting on calls back. "It's going to be for competition. I have to make a decision on who starts on Saturday. That's why I want this done as quickly as we can.
"Hopefully we can get someone in by Thursday if we can and make a decision from there."

It's a shame Sam Johnstone's gone on loan to Villa.
-

The third string keeper at Man United would not have been allowed to drop to League 2. To get games he would have had to go to the Championship.
-
We need a keeper in by the weekend, it's as simple as that. Jones isn't fit, we can't have Etheridge and no one else. An experienced head on the training field would do Etheridge the world of good as well.

Shay Given is still registered at Villa I believe

DF can't afford to muck about. It's his task to get us promoted and as we move towards the business end of the season we need the best possible chance to make sure we don't slip up.
If this was a case of managing for a couple of weeks then you could understand his reliance on Etheridge. We're talking 3 months here. By the time Marosi's back the promotion spots could easily have been determined.
