Looks like we are playing 3 4 3 as we did against Portsmouth U23

Wonder if VA is the forward trialist

Interesting that we have 2 triallists listed plus Myring is on the bench, yet not listed as another triallist!

Wright and Gomes both being given more game time.

Just before ht and the score is 3-1 to us. No idea who has scored but whoever it is has brought their shooting boots. This info from Rotherham site. Now HT. 3-1.

According to Rovers Academy, Gomes credited with the other. What about the other trial it’s?

Could be a good suggestion. He turned down Rotherham in the summer didn’t he? Saying he wanted Championship football. Well if he comes here he can have championship football next season with us.

That could be a good call.  He played quite a few games for Rotherham and Ipswich in the Championship and seems to have lost his way a bit after doing his cruciate knee ligament in December 2018 and being out for an extended period.  Not sure if he would have crossed paths with Jon Taylor at Rotherham also....

Complexion? Very smooth and well maintained other than a bit of stubble rash on his chin.

How do we turn that into Grant Ward? Unless it’s the right back who is Keir?

We await Liam Hoden’s report on the 2 triallists, which he said would be posted on twitter later this evening.

Don’t know why, but I’ve a strange feeling something is happening (at last).

I read it differently-the centre half is potentially for the development squad. The premier league guy surely wouldn’t leave because of lack of opportunities to join our development team so must be looking at first team

Can teams cancel a players contract out side of the transfer window so they become free agents for any other clubs to sign.

Ali Crawford signed for Bolton in September.
Did we cancel (mutually) his contract in August or on 1st/2nd September to allow him to go?

Could be (yet another) loan? And, yes, the Premiership lad would be for the first team. The other one is for the u23’s, as he’s from non- league and would be a permanent.

I think I’ve worked out who it is, but my lips are sealed on this one. If it is who I think, then we’re in for a bit of excitement.

Don’t think it can be a loan - the window is shut for permanent and loan deals for players. Signing a free agent is our only option until January.

Good point not sure why they'd let him risk injury. Unless it's a trial with a view to us taking him on loan or agree a fee but still probably wouldn't happen

So the lad might be Kian Flanagan. Was at Palace. Contracted expired 30.06.2019 so he is a free agent. Get him signed if the report from yesterday is anything to go by.

He could be under contract at a club who have told him it will not be renewed, and if he gets another club they will cancel his current contract so he is a free agent.

Transfer market listed it as expiring on 30.06.19 but maybe it’s been extended and never announced. Also, could be he is sat on a rolling contract so can leave whenever he wants. Can’t find anything on his contract from Palace - maybe Woy lost his paperwork. Haha.

Either way let’s see what happens. Fingers crossed for not another loan personally.

That's a very good shout.
He fits exactly Liam Holden's description of a player who scored 10 goals in 27 appearances for his U23 team last season.

Isn’t a rolling contract one that always has the same length of time remaining on it?
That in itself says that he couldn’t just leave whenever he wanted to.

So if he is on a contract then we can’t sign him until January?
Also, how likely is it that we can offer him a deal that would encourage him to come to TLOD if we are wanting to bring him in on a permanent deal as opposed to a loan.

Maybe youth team player of the year, but Wan-Bissaka would undoubtedly have been their young player of the year.

I could be wrong here but a player must be registered to play in any league organised by or in conjunction with the FA/EFL. So does the reserve league count as being organised by them? If it does he can’t play for us as a trialist if he is Currently registered for Palace. He could play as a trialist as a free agent but he can’t if he is still at Palace. If the reserve league doesn’t count as one of the leagues they have arranged then the above doesn’t matter.

Bigger question is why would Palace let him play for us as a trialist if they were planning on keeping him? He could also have asked for termination following his recent issues with lack of first team football and it be granted. We will just have to wait and see.

I think we are all getting ahead of ourselves with this one.
If it is Flanagan I'm amazed we've been able to bring him in on trial.
I know someone who supports Palace who thinks he should be in the first team now.
He was being tipped as a future multi-million pound player not long ago and I would put him in front of Ennis, John and Sterling who, I think, are all excellent signings.
Darren Moore clearly knows the Under 23/Development League inside out but this would be a massive coup if we were able to bring him in, even on loan.
Happy days!

Palace could cancel his contact and we sign him on a free but have a set fee or buy back agreed with palace if we sell him at the end of season.

Getting him on loan is pointless unless we send Ennis or sterling back, he won't join us unless he is promised 1st team football every match.

1. If he is a free agent from them releasing him then we wouldn't be able to give anyone a sell on or buy back.

2. Why would we send back our only 2 strikers for an attacking midfielder which we have in depth?
