Excellent read. He embodies the honest spirit of the real pro. I will never forget the last minute of that home play off match against Chester when he got crocked. If he'd stayed down and the trainer had come on, that would have been the end of the match, and maybe the season. Hobbling back onto his feet meant we kept the ball alive and scored that equaliser.

A proper hero.

There's a book written by Chris Hargreaves that's on a similar write to Ricky's, it's called 'where's your caravan'. Hargreaves was a lower league pro that struggled to keep a club and a roof over his and his families heads.

I like the paragraph
"When Arsenal paid £42.4m for Mesut Özil he reportedly signed a five-year deal in the region of £100,000 a week. Regardless of previous earnings, the moment that ink is dry he is a multimillionaire with no financial worries again, so his motivation and drive then has to come from success"
And I think that is one of the main reasons England national team have underacheived in recent decades, all the players on the pitch are Multimillionaires and any motivation and drive is seriously at jeopardy.
Reading that has reminded me,last I heard that Andy Webb(Rigo) was working there, maybe he could get advice from Ricky on how to write a good article.  :silly:
Also notice a link at bottom of the page to the Mcindoe con.

A good read and maybe if it was pinned up in Premier League dressing rooms it might make one or two prima donnas think again about how lucky they are.

Ricky is still with the Rovers as an Academy Coach with the U13s squad.
