Only being looked at for the development squad though. I like the strategy, although it shows our own youth set up is simply not good enough at the min

I read it differently-the centre half is potentially for the development squad. The premier league guy surely wouldn’t leave because of lack of opportunities to join our development team so must be looking at first team

It clearly states the lad Maxwell for the development squad not the Prem player.

Contracts cancelled becomes a free agent

Can teams cancel a players contract out side of the transfer window so they become free agents for any other clubs to sign.

Ali Crawford signed for Bolton in September.
Did we cancel (mutually) his contract in August or on 1st/2nd September to allow him to go?

Could be (yet another) loan? And, yes, the Premiership lad would be for the first team. The other one is for the u23’s, as he’s from non- league and would be a permanent.

I think I’ve worked out who it is, but my lips are sealed on this one. If it is who I think, then we’re in for a bit of excitement.

Don’t think it can be a loan - the window is shut for permanent and loan deals for players. Signing a free agent is our only option until January.

I’m fairly sure Crawford left for Bolton just before the window ended..

Of course it is, Nick. I forgot about that, so maybe there has been a bit of a fall-out and he’s cancelled his contract.

Not sure his club would agree to cancel his contract if they think they can sell him later. Maybe we're just getting at the head of the queue for Jan

Ifhe’s playing for us as a trialist, that would suggest his contract is already cancelled

Wouldn’t they have to have been a free agent before the transfer deadline though.

Good point not sure why they'd let him risk injury. Unless it's a trial with a view to us taking him on loan or agree a fee but still probably wouldn't happen

So the lad might be Kian Flanagan. Was at Palace. Contracted expired 30.06.2019 so he is a free agent. Get him signed if the report from yesterday is anything to go by.

He could be under contract at a club who have told him it will not be renewed, and if he gets another club they will cancel his current contract so he is a free agent.

He fits the description but he is still under contract with Palace.

Transfer market listed it as expiring on 30.06.19 but maybe it’s been extended and never announced. Also, could be he is sat on a rolling contract so can leave whenever he wants. Can’t find anything on his contract from Palace - maybe Woy lost his paperwork. Haha.

Either way let’s see what happens. Fingers crossed for not another loan personally.

That's a very good shout.
He fits exactly Liam Holden's description of a player who scored 10 goals in 27 appearances for his U23 team last season.

Isn’t a rolling contract one that always has the same length of time remaining on it?
That in itself says that he couldn’t just leave whenever he wanted to.

I think any free agent we sign now has to have been a free agent by the end of the previous transfer/loan window..

CP have taken up a 12 month extension on his contract, if it’s him!

So if he is on a contract then we can’t sign him until January?
Also, how likely is it that we can offer him a deal that would encourage him to come to TLOD if we are wanting to bring him in on a permanent deal as opposed to a loan.
