Am I in the wrong
« on July 15, 2015, 11:02:50 am by bigbadjack »
Just moved into our house that we have just renovated and last night I had to channel a cable no more than a meter long into a wall for the plasterer to skim today, the wall wasn't connected to our neighbours but did involve a bit of banging, anyway the woman from next door raced round brayed on our door asking me to stop as iv woken her kids up it was 7:45pm by the way so I did, so was I out of order? Or should I of shut the door in her face and carried on?

Anyone who uses 'of' when they should have used 'have' is always in the wrong. ;)

I would probably have asked first like, especially if they have young kids....

I never thought about it seeing as the kitchen is at the opposite side of the house the Mrs (who is not known for her diplomacy) was very apologetic but it fell on deaf ears! No problem though

If your next door neighbour gets bothered about you making a bit of noise around the other side of the house then she'll love the dog!

Maybe invite her and her other half around one evening or weekend. Maybe if she realises you have kids she will be more understanding.

Everybody needs good neighbours, and with a little understanding, you can find a perfect blend. You should  be there for one another.

That's when good neighbours become good friends.

I have bad neighbours too. the other night at midnight they were banging on the walls. I could hardly hear myself drilling for all the banging and shouting they were doing !

Joking aside, I'd have thought a good cut-off point for excessive noise would be 8ish. Weird family whose kids are fast asleep at 19:45 anyway!

If her kids are really young then they might be in bed for 1900 to 1930. My daughter is four and she's in bed 1945 as she is absolutely knackered by that time.
If this noise is just a one off to get things done then fair enough, it's when it becomes a regular thing then it becomes a problem.

Your neighbour is totally unreasonable.
It's to be expected that there will be noise when somebody moves in, and moaning about it so early in the evening is ridiculous. It's not your fault/problem that they have young kids.
Anything after 9.00pm is inconsiderate IMO, but any earlier and I'd tell them to get over it. If it's not sleeping kids, it'll be somebody working nights, sick in bed etc, so I'd set them straight from the off. Who wouldn't prefer to never hear their neighbours? However, that's not going to happen. Everybody needs to do DIY from time to time, and have the occasional party.
"Sorry about that, I'll be done soon," would be my response.

Don't get me wrong, I've no time for inconsiderate people, especially neighbours, but I also can't stand unrealistic and unreasonable people.

Been away with work this week. Staying in a hotel.

Weds night, the bloke in the room above me was having a J Arthur from midnight till past 01:30.  Bed springs twanging like hell, but a total absence of female sound effects, which is why I figured he was indulging in the Sin of Onan.

Anyroad, it's been a f**king busy week and I've really needed to get some shut eye. Do when he was still at it at 01:45, I knocked on his door and asked if he wanted me to finish him off, just so we could both go to sleep.

Creaking stopped on the spot.

I feel like we're missing the climax of the story.
Did it have a happy ending?
