Back four

Got to give a mention to these lads today. People will say they didn't have much to do, but that's because of the sheer quality, grit and determination from them.

No messing about from any of them today, won every header, every battle, brilliant, just brilliant!

Agree. Griffin in particular was excellent, looked dangerous going forward and showed his experience at the back making sure no one got the better of him. Lost count of the amount of time he just eased their player off the ball and shepherded it out of play. And he got that Hollywood tackle in the last minute too which stopped their break away!

Griffin has been outstanding every time he has come in. Big decision for Flynn coming up. Harsh on Quinn who has been brilliant since Christmas but Griffin has to keep his place surely? Experienced and quality on the ball. Better going forward too.

I've been impressed with Quinny on the left but the last few games Griffin has been there he's been excellent, solid ans calm at the back but also gives an attacking option too.  :scarf:

As steady as Quinn has been, I prefer Griffin. He was really good today, but then the whole team were excellent. If we work as hard in every game as we did today we won't lose again for the rest of the season.

I think our back four have been so good all season that we just expect brilliance from them. We've been a bit spoiled and we don't always appreciate just how good they are. Whoever's been brought in has always been, at worst, steady, at best unplayable, as they all were today.

Griffin was superb today. Very comfortable on the ball.

Quinn and Griffin for next season please. Left backs are sorted too. Is Griffin still not getting paid?

I think the key with Griffin is that his fitness has improved and credit to him for pushing himself through his time here to get there. He had energy all through the game.

As well as the back four, you have to mention the whole side who defended from the front. Brown never gave them a minutes rest, Lundstram and Furman did the dirty work in the middle of the park and even Bennett helped out the defence. Cracking all-round team performance.

I just liked the no nonsense from all four of them. You can't pass out from our own area in that pitch. So if its in our box, get rid of it. That's what we did! Brilliant!

Can't see Quinny getting back in barring injury to Griff. Flynn won't change a winning team, especially as Griffin played so well.

It's that key word "experience".   Looking at the playing stats for our back four, we have Rob Jones out in front with 410 appearances, Jamie McCombe with 364, Andy Griffin with 336 and the "inexperienced" Tommy Spurr with only 252!
That's a total of 1,362 senior appearances for the back 4 and I doubt many clubs can match that.
