Saturday Afternoon's key fixtures (Mar. 18th. 2017)
« on March 16, 2017, 01:50:36 am by les@donr »
Here are this Saturday Afternoon's fixtures for the top 9 teams. Some interesting games.

Luton vs Exeter

Hartlepool vs Wycombe

Leyton Orient vs Doncaster

Crewe vs Colchester

Mansfield vs Carlisle

Newport vs Blackpool

Plymouth vs Morecambe

Stevenage vs Portsmouth

Luton vs Exeter, probably a  draw the best result for us, be interesting how Carlisle do at Mansfield could be another defeat. Will Newport turn over Blackpool, a draw more likely. Plymouth vs Morecombe, can see this being a draw too, Pompey will probably be too good for Stevenage. Us a big win at troubled Leyton O.

Stevenage will be busting a gut after losing on Tuesday. I think that they could spike Pompey.

Plymouth drawing with Morecambe? How do you get that? Morecambe lost at home to Newport in their last game!

Home banker for Plymouth for me - but I'd take an away win any day.

We are even more at the stage now when the only result that counts is ours..

Win at orient and no one gets closer points wise..

THey also drew at our place a few weeks back and we're Modestly well organised.

Luton Exeter will be a good game and a tough one for Mansfield.

All about us though we just need a win. I would take 1-0.

Portsmouth had been unlucky when they lost to exeter and Wycombe  don't know about the crewe home defeat
Paul Merson said the 1-1 draw with Morecambe could have been 10-1 so I will respect his judgement

having said that the first 2 goals (scored early) Portsmouth scored against Grimsby were both deflected (reminds me of the lucky goals Barnsley scored against Walsall in the play offs last season) so in my world the force and momentum is with them

the world and his dog knows they have the second best squad of players it looks like they might AT LAST BECOME THE SECOND BEST TEAM

I think mid table teams such as Morecombe are hard to play against. Why? They know they can beat relegated threatened teams, they know they aren't good enough to be in the promotion race. However, they are already thinking of next season. They want to test themselves against the top teams, and see how they come out, as they will be aspiring promotion candidates next season. As Morecombe drew against us, I can see them doing the same with Plymouth. I would put Mansfield and Grimsby in the mid table teams category, a warning to us when we play them both in April, neither game will be a walk over.

Fully agree we have some tough games coming up - it is not in the bag yet and twists and turns are always inevitable. Confident we will be champions as we are the best side in this league but one game at a time till we are over the lline

Welcome to the forum.

Hopefully we will be close to promoted by the time we play Grimsby and Mansfield, both will want to poo on our party.

Many thanks for the welcome - inclined to agree with you both Mansfield and Grimsby will be out to spoil our inevitable party but we have shown lately we can scrap and grind out results against dudes that can deploy spooling tactics.

I've learnt over the years that the Rovers never, ever do things the easy way. It makes life interesting but does nothing for my nervous system.

Let's keep plugging away for victory and let others worry about us.

It's a great chance for another 3 points nearer, but also to improve the goal difference as a further cushion.

I hope the lads have their shooting boots on today and go and play at the same tempo as Tuesday!

Agree, big opportunity to greatly increase our goal difference, given Pompey have been scoring for fun of late.

Also be watching out for Plymouth's, Pompey's and Carlisle's scores, great chance for us to extend our points gap over any of the following teams that slip up, all have tricky games.

Let us hope that Lawlor was taken off as a precaution.

Lawlor has a groin strain and it will be assessed later

I hope it isn't a bad one but I am happy with Marko in goal.
