Is Joe Wright Championship material?

We had good honest pros who lifted their game to compete at that level players like Sam Hird played 140 games at Championship level - not disparaging Sam whatsoever but if I was given the choice to sign Joe Wright or Sam - I think most of us would pick JW - that being said SH was really good when he had Matt Mills or Shackle alongside him.

Wright has done well this season he’s definitely worth extending contract - I had earlier reservations about the amount of games he missed but hopefully over that

Very good, solid League 1 defender. However, to play in the Championship, he'd need to up his concentration levels. He's often got a mistake in him, and some of those mistakes have cost us games at times.

SS, that point about L1 players.......i often think our some of  fans expect far too much in the way of perfection from our players.

It's a yes for me, very comfortable with the ball at his feet, good positional sense & he's not too shabby in the air.

Plenty of people are saying he's the first priority to get signed up again, fearing he'll walk for free.

Who's right? Tbh. I wouldn't lose any sleep if he went. He's decent but hasn't quite lived up to his potential but wouldn't be busting the budget to keep him.

No doubt if he doesn't sign what:s offered, there'll be plenty sharpening the knives for the board once again.

Agree he’s league 1, he’s nowhere near Tom Anderson. Having said that he’ll be playing in the Championship next season, whether he’ll start games, I’m sceptical.

If he gets in the Welsh squad it says much about what they have got available.

Hard to say on tonight’s evidence none of our players are league 1 level. But similar to the Sam Hird comment if he’s playing with better players around him I’m sure he’d be a lower end championship player.

- if he does get a chance in the championship he'll have better players to play with.
- when he got caught out playing risky passes its because he was trying to do Bostock's job.

There are different kinds of centre halves, and I think him and Anderson compliment each other. One serious ball winner and blocker and Wright who reads the game well and mops things up. They are both good.

Definitely not he makes far to many simple mistakes/ unforced errors. I used to think yes he is but for me he has gone backwards
