To be fair its not a bad question!

I just want to say a big well done to Simon Gillett if I'm honest! I wasn't really a fan at the start of the season and up until christmas time, but recently he has performed very well, and could easily win the VSC player of the year.

Also, a big well done to Sam Hird, won a lot of people over this year!

Think Tommy Spurr has been decent for us as well during an injury hit season and Billy didn't do bad did he, when he was here.

Gillett, Spurr, Hird, must say also can't really complain at effort put in by Diouf.

Agreed 100% on all 4 players, although Diouf plays like a Competitive Dad.
Clearly head and shoulders above the squad in talent, thinking time on the ball etc, but demonstrates zero understanding that most of his team mates are 2 yards behind in terms of thinking and/or pace.

And for complete lack of effort, balls, fight, prescence, team spirit etc over the whole season, my \"bagoshite\" award goes jointly to Piles Barnes and John Oster.

Put in a shift - Spurr, Hird, Gillet, Sharp, Hayter, Stock at times, Diouf.

Not given a shit - Illunga, Chimbonda, Goulon, Bamogo.

Up until about 4 weeks ago Gillett was the most hated player we have ever had - now he's in line to be player of the season! Its a funny old world.

I thought George Friend was one of the better players until he got injured, Ryan Mason looked good in the two games he played, Jon Parkin, Reece Brown can be added to the waste of space award.

I thought Parkin put a shift in in all fairness, we just never managed to utilise him properly.

I would love to do the presentations at the Sponsors lunch.

To half-quote Paul Calf, I'm tempted to go with a \"bagoshite\" as well as a \"sackocack\" award, so they could get one each.

I checked my magic tea-leaves earlier too for an early 2012/2013 prediction....
I see the number 16 and a fish = Oster going to Grimsby
I see the number 17 and some scabs = Barnes going to Mansfield, but maybe Alfreton

Maybe we should also go with a Sicknote Award?

This award is to be named the \"Hakin Hayrettin services to medical science Award\"

Early contenders...

Shelton Martis
Paul Keegan
Chris Brown
Martin Woods
Rachid Bouhenna
Pascal Chimbonda

(it was a close run thing between Hayrettin and Stuart Doling; as to who had the best injury to appearance record).

Haha they were the days.

Could put them in the same bracket as Simon Black and Darren Roberts for achievement here!

Black turned up for the squad photo in August and was never seen anywhere near the first team ever again.

Roberts turned up, decided he didn't like what he saw and buggered off after a few days to sign for Chesterfield.

The less talented Gallen brother was another one who I think never actually played for us.

..and then there was the Dean Williams who wasn't our keeper, signed on loan on Friday afternoon, came on for 15 minutes at home the next day and was subbed (despite coming on as a sub I think) and was never seen again.

Jeez this is a depressing thread.........because it's sadly so accurate.
So many players have been taking the piss whilst at DRFC not just now but for years.
Seems to me that SO'D is being villified for trying to keep us up beyond one season despite the paucity of crowds and the 'big 2' pitching in only just reasonable amounts of money to strengthen our squad so that we didn't have to rely on D,E,& F grade players. If they had really pushed the boat out ........they COULD have got a massive return on their investments. Instead they played it safe and didn't speculate to accumulate as was originally promised ; that was NOT SO'Ds fault.
