I admit it does seem strange. All we've been hearing is, we've got a thin squad, but once we move people out we have people lined up to slot straight in. Well, now we've got an even thinner squad and not a peep out of anyone regarding players coming in! If we still can't afford anyone then what was the point in forcing Copps out the door in the first place?

We are not far off a good squad,maybe three players on loan and we'd be alright,maybe a free transfer on a contract till christmas just to tide us over,if not he'll have to recall the youth players we loaned out who signed pro contracts

We had players lined up, for when copps left or so we were told, it does appear that we've had the woll pulled over our eyes, again! Not even any Gavin Baldwin updates are forthcoming any more!

I'd rather given we're not in too much of a mess (touch wood injury wise) that we wait and get the right player in.  No point signing someone now who won't be good enough.  Besides if we can get towards October before bringing loans in we'll then have them over the christmas period.  Anyone signed now would see their loan expire before christmas (and I expect injuries may bite a bit later in the season).

“That’s not what players want to hear when they’re negotiating with you.

“They’re wanting longer term deals or the chance of a permanent contract and we just can’t offer that right now.

We should have probably stuck to the deadline that Dean Saunders was proudly announcing in the local media. Even if it was just a week before the end of the window, it would have helped.

So why did we accept - couldn't we have put that to them? I won't claim to know the finer details of how football deals work but can we not change our target strategy based on this - if we can't sign players because some want reassurances beyond January why don't we look for those who won't? Premiership youngsters who still see their future at that level and established players returning from injury who need a few games. We have funds now and whilst it would be great to bring the "Plan A" targets in I feel we're short enough on numbers that we have to consider getting bodies in that we hadn't originally looked at.

Very frustrating - why get rid of Coppinger at all if there weren't any replacements? Why weaken the playing side for no reason? I just can't get my head around this. What happened to all these promises of a competitive squad, what happened to the deadline we set for players leaving, what happened to 2 or 3 replacements to any player who left the club?

Just ridiculous. Copps is a quality player, but I could face losing him IF we were to strengthen the squad as a whole. Now it turns out we STILL can't do that. How does this loan benefit us? Are we that desperate to sell that we'll get strung along til January, with the squad in limbo til then, purely in the hope that Forest will make it permanent? It's a joke.
