Title: OCTOBER 22nd & the Winners of all 4 Divisions are past the post
Post by: Colemans Left Hook on October 22, 2017, 10:22:57 am
Thought i'd check out the best prices for the favourites of all 4 divisions 3 are top at the moment the other cantering in second with a "pacemaker" rag leading on suffrance

we have top prices
man city 2/9
wolves 10/11
wigan 8/13
luton 4/6

that's odds of 5.28/1 trouble is you wouldn't even get that since the top prices are with different bookmakers

it's beginning to look like a bloodbath with potential multiple accumulators coming into port
I expect Paddy Power to pay out on Man City as winners in the next 2 weeks

anyone got the above 4 in an acca or better ?

can't remember a season like this sorted "allegedly" so early

I think you're right in all except wolves - fancy them to go up but not quite win it. Thought Cardiff looked more likely or dare I say, the blunts? The others look shoe-ins though.

Cardiff will tail off I'd expect. There's always a few teams who start strongly and die off towards mid season.

Wolves need to be going up with what they've spent! And I always thought once the Blades got out of this league they'd kick on. Wouldn't put a playoff push past them.

Didn't City win their first 6 or so games last year before tailing off? I think they look far stronger this time out but you don't win anything by November so can't see any bookie paying out that early

It's a different league but didn't Paddy Power pay out on Celtic in July/August when Rangers lost in Luxembourg in the Europa League?

Part of Paddy Power's marketing and pull is that they're just ridiculous with their offers and pay outs so wouldn't be surprised to see them pay out on City soon. In fact, if they're still top and beat United on December 10th I wouldn't be surprised if they paid out then!

I remember a team looking stitched on for a divisional title last seson with only a few games to play and that didn’t quite finish as many thought it would.
It cost me a few quid too.

well we are two months on in the season not long til "Black Monday in May" 2018 when it's time for our friends to cough up on these accumulators  no doubt someone will have a  8 or 9 team acca or whatever running on to Champions League or even the world cup

we now have Man City GENEROUSLY best priced 1/41 put 41 on to win 1 ( Rovers were offered at odds of 1/50 when they were apparent certainties)
best odds now offered by various bookmakers

wolves 1/6
wigan 2/5  (Blackburn would be just as bad a payout for the accas)
and Luton 4/11
the noose has well and truely tightened

update
there is one bookmaker out there WHO for the sake of embarrassment will NOT NAME ATHEY offer you the following odds

1/250 man city
1/14 wolves
1/5 wigan
and 1/6 LUTON

so for every £1 you stake on the acca WITH THEM you win 50.6 pence ODDS OF 1/2 THE ACCA

this acca looks like being a BETVICTORious bet

Just looked and Man City 1/66 with Sky Bet

Acca returns only £18.35 (£8.35 profit ) if you put £10 on !

Come on Man City & Wolves ! Not bothered whether other 2 make it or not. Not a rampant Wigan fan nor a great lover of Luton either !

I am seriously worried that our record breaking season of 1946-47 will soon no longer be the best ever season on record.

Agree - looks ominous - but surely each respective League Leader will have a "blip" at some stage ?

totally forgot about the Rovers record seems to be 105 points in "new money"
http://www.doncasterrovers.co.uk/history/League%20Tables/League%20table%201946-1947.htm

I looked at wolves last night 54 points from 23 games so at that rate would be 108 which seemed a lot !!!

not too long ago they lost to poxy QPR away AND ONLY drew the other week with mighty Sunderland 0-0 at home they seem to specialise in beating the better teams --1-0 seems to do nicely - the rest will be strengthening up in January so don't expect them to get 108 points but the good teams on paper are well behind

No chance we will get a mention on MotD or anywhere else Hound. They will concentrate on Chelsea's season in 2004-05 when they took 95 points from 38 games at an average of 2.5 ppg - the same as Rovers season of 1946-7 if that had been 3 points per game. These are the only two occasions that an average of 2.5 ppg has been achieved since WW1. Rovers in 1946-47 is the only time ever since the Football League started in 1888 it has been achieved over more than 38 games.

Wolves, Wigan and Luton would need 115 points to achieve 2.5 ppg.

the week link in this acca AS FAR AS THE HEADLINE to this thread is wigan -- but in reality the bookies are stuffed whether wigan or Blackburn win

after 3 matches wigan had 9 points and Blackburn only 3 (including that 8th wonder of the world rovers loss) so we had a SIX points gap

but over the next 20 matches Blackburn have actually got one more point than Wigan so it could be very close and anyone with the accas as per headline ought to get their credit card limit raised ready to hedge Blackburn assuming the other divisions are already won
