Just been trying to get through on the phone to Brentford to confirm arrangements for our ride on Saturday and no-one is answering as they are in a big meeting with the police about arrangements for the game following the trouble with Portsmouth in the home end and pitch invasion. Expect a heavy presence and I would suggest that any Rovers who may have tickets in the home end to practice a Cockney accent pretty sharpish.

From www.standard.co.uk
Brentford have confirmed there will be an increased number of police and stewards at Griffin Park for Saturday’s sell-out promotion decider against Doncaster.

Almost a fortnight ago hundreds of Portsmouth fans invaded the Griffin Park pitch following their 3-2 defeat and there were scuffles with stewards and police.

Saturday’s programme will include  a message to supporters reminding them of their responsibilities and Brentford have taken other steps to ensure there is no repeat of the Portsmouth trouble on what will be a tense afternoon for the 12,000-plus crowd.

Uwe Rosler’s men go into their final game of the season knowing victory will see them promoted to the Championship but a draw or defeat will consign them to the play-offs and leave Doncaster’s 1,800-strong travelling contingent celebrating.

Brentford chief executive Mark Devlin says lessons have been learned from the Portsmouth game but the measures for Saturday’s match — the club’s second sell-out of the season after the FA Cup tie against Chelsea — are not a direct result of that incident.

Clubs often adopt a different approach for their final home game of the season, with fans traditionally wanting to run on to the pitch at the final whistle.

Devlin said: “We met with the Metropolitan Police to go through the Portsmouth situation and to go through what will happen at the end of Saturday’s game, allowing for all eventualities — a Brentford win, a Doncaster win and a draw.

“There is a lot riding on the match and there is something in it for both teams. So there is an added issue for us to consider this time but we have taken measures that we believe will allow the game to go off peacefully.

“We have got an experienced team here and we are very confident that everyone can come here safe in the knowledge that plans are in place.”

Invading the pitch is a criminal offence and it is hoped all fans will remain in their seats after the game.

If Brentford are promoted, their players will return to the dressing room before re-emerging to celebrate promotion. Doncaster will be presented with the League One trophy if they win and leaders Bournemouth fail to triumph at  Tranmere.

However, Merseyside Police announced today they will not allow Bournemouth to receive the trophy at Prenton Park

Can't believe Tranmere won't let Bournemouth lift the trophy if they win it. Incredibly harsh.

It's bang out of order and sounds like sour grapes from the Trannies themselves to me.

In all seriousness though you're right, I can't really see why they've done this because it isn't exactly a massive derby or anything of the sort where it's all going to kick off because of that.

Still, it only takes the Cherries to pop for them to not even need it there  :chair:

You don't want to be doing that, as they'd still kick you out. Cockney's from the East side of London - Bow Bells etc. West London has a different accent to us. But I guess to you northerners we all sound the same   ;)

It's all a load of shite this, if our lads live locally then they should have every right to not only support who they want and sit where they want as long as they behave themselves. Threats of ejection, fear of opening their gobs in case they don't have the appropriate accent has no place in a modern democratic society.
Time this country grew up , threats of ejection or actually ejecting well-behaved folk can cause far more trouble.

From the Standard's report, it sounds like the Football League have decided the trophy will be at Brentford on Saturday.
