Wright
« on October 19, 2016, 09:12:34 pm by selby »
I have watched him in every game he has played this season, and thik he is a great prospect.
I have also watched John Stones in four games on the t.v.
Stones has dropped more b*llocks in those four games than Wright has all season.

A slight exaggeration I think.

Last season Everton had the second worst defence in the premier league.
This season it has the best, who is missing?
It is a big call, but my prediction is,that if Stones does not improve defensively he will be dropped, or City will end up with nothing.

Roberto Matinez and an aging Tim Howard? ;)

Everton's defensive problems last season were mainly down to Martinez and his style, rather than the personnel. Stones isn't the finished article yet, not unlike Joe Wright here, so it's a decent comparison if you look at it that way.

I don't think you can make any comparison between Wright and Stones at the moment. One is marking people like John Akinde and the other one has Leo Messi making runs at him all night.

I can't deny Stones hasn't looked great in the few matches I have watched City and England so far this season. I understand he is a ball playing defender, but he has been far too casual and cost his team goals and given opponents gilt edged chances from lazy headers back and slack passes. I think he will get better as he learns from mistakes, but if he was Elequim Mangala/Otomendi last night he would have been destroyed after the game.

I think it's good that Guardiola is showing faith in him but he needs to get the basics right first as his descision making needs considerable improvement.

THing is the new city manager prioritises passing over defensive ability. Can't knock it's worked for him in the past but will it in England?

I'd swap Wright for Stones.

I'd swap Wright for Stones.

I'd be shocked if someone wouldn't.

I agree about the swop, but which club has got value for money.
3 goals at Celtic 2 at Spurs 4 at Barcelona does not bode well for a 50million buy.
He has been, and is,a mistake a game player,if he does not get that part of his game improved quickly he will fall down the pecking order like so many of our boy wonders.

Just out of interest, how many of you who like Stones, would still pay £50 million for him if you were a manager?
And would he be in current Everton first team?

Do I take it he is not worth £50million then,or would not be in the current Everton first team?
