Elliott Simoes
« on May 17, 2021, 01:42:00 pm by selby »
I see he has left us and gone back to Barnsley, the only player I have ever seen  play a number of games for us and contribute absolutely nothing, he was very very poor.
He must be the biggest mistake their much vaunted signing system has ever made.

How many times did the late Mirsad Bubalovic play? I have a feeling it was only the once, but if he did manage to get on the pitch 2 or 3 times then perhaps Simoes has a competitor?!!

Played 8 times for us I believe..... No goals....... no assists.  Another DM masterstroke.

A total passenger, can see why he didn't fit in at Barnsley with their energy levels. I think at his best he was simply ok.

My memory is him having v good ability, being unlucky with some of his dribbles, not getting much time on the pitch, but mainly not seeming integrated with the squad.

True, but unfortunately NOT the only one, sure we could make a full team + of players we've had on loan and contributed virtually NIL over recent decades.

Sorry it didn't work out , I'd have loved to have seen Elliot be a massive success as it would have suited everyone .

He was told by Valerian that his future at Oakwell pretty much depended on how he performed at Rovers during his loan spell .

So it isn't looking good for him .

Bizarre signing.

Never got a run of games and was in and out of the squad, mostly out towards the end. Didn't make an impact in the limited opportunities he did get however.

Moore getting the blame for the signing but i'm sure we had a head of recruitment. Said it loads of times either Moore was signing a load of rubbish so no point in having AH or AH weren't all that

You do wonder though if he would have played more if not for Moore's 7 loanee policy.

If we had 5, and Simoes was one, he could've had more of a run and perhaps shown something. As it is, he was always last on the list of loanees to get in the squad when enough were fit.

He was a stupid signing, considering the amount of loanees we already had

Not a great signing but not worst I've seen. Would raise you James Harper and Nic Priet over him. Also I'd say at least one of our contracted players for next year worse. I have no issue with naming poor players who have left us, some may have been better elsewhere. Will not name the current player in the hope that he improves.

I thought Simoes was more mediocre than anything. Certainly not the worst we’ve had, in fact I’m pretty sure there’s some ability there. But he did very little, rarely got into any dangerous positions (not helped by lack of a run in the team) and he seemed a pointless signing.

Peter Creamer didn’t he join the police force and manage Brandon Utd when we played them in the cup 30+ years ago

He was a pointless signing, along with the lad from Celtic. I would say that they both have potential as league 1 players though, they just needed time to gel - something we could never give them.

Robertson was decent.   Simoes a absolute waste of time.
