Really?

I would have thought the FC United game would be high on anybody's list.

I’d be interested to know why we have chosen to play friendlies mainly against non league clubs. I’d imagine the response would be that “pre season is just for fitness”. I’d argue that every decision should have thinking behind it. A reason for playing each team that will help us prepare certain things.

Maybe the thinking is that by playing teams well down the pyramid we might just win a few and instil a bit of confidence in the side.

What do people expect from pre-season? Makes a change from Gainsborough and Retford again.
Every club in the league plays non-league teams in pre season.

It happens every year. We play non league clubs and a couple of league clubs. We also promote money for non league clubs. People need to get of their high horses. And mostly it is about fitness. Let’s play all premier league clubs, get trounced, then people will moan. OMG. It is what is, Pre-Season

I'll have a word with BB, see if his team, Toll Bar Raggy Arse Wanderers, can fix a friendly up with us at their ground.

It'll need a few volunteers though, to pick all the dog sh*t up before the game.

Liverpool at home on the 16th so half this forum becomes neutral for a fixture.

Padge, or Man Utd so the other half can become neutral.  ;)

Seriously though, Liverpool are my second team and have been since they beat Leeds in the cup final back in the mid sixties but whenever we have played them Rovers have still been my first team.

What a pathetic load of posts from some.  Moan Moan Moan.
Professional moaners, not real supporters. Embarrassing.

Good set of fixtures imo. Well thought out. We have Rotherham and Huddersfield. Are they non league? News to me if they are.
Who do people want to play? Top Premier league sides and get beat 6-0 what will we learn from that?

It is a steady progression of games ending in a game at FC United which is a decent game to finish pre season.

Absolute rubbish, we should arranged pre season fixtures against, Boca Juniors,Malmo,Rossington Main,Bayern Munich, Porto, Worksop Town, Man City,Stenhousemuir,Inter Miami,Burnley,Kaiser Chiefs,Melbourne City,Shamrock Rovers and countless other teams, but play them on successive days alternating between home and away.

Who said it should be Championship clubs? For me,ideally we would play a third of frendlies against local non-league to link with the community and a third against league two level teams who we will face week in week out next season, but thats not possible/plausible so the next level is league one(which we,surprising too me have no frendlies against)and which where we aspire to reach at the end of next season, and the final third against Premiership/championship for them give a little back down the pyramid like we will do.
