Tweet from journo Alan Nixon
'Preston. centre half Andy Boyle going out on loan.doncaster Rovers in ahead of Walsall.'
-
Not got a great deal of experience, and not the towering centre half most wanted at 6ft - but he will be a body in, and will hopefully bring enthusiasm and energy....
-
Tom Anderson 6'4" centre back recalled from season long loan to Port Vale from Burnley, looks like he's going somewhere, out of contract in the summer and not in Sean Dyche's plans, maybe?
-
Good size and age. Seemed to be well thought of at Port Vale, so maybe a possible. Main thing is that he will be match fit and ready to go.....
-
Anderson out of contract in the summer. Will he go out on loan again or permanently?
-
Port Vale's manager (Neil Aspin) has apparently said that Anderson was withdrawn from loan as player is going to a League 1 club......
-
Fingers crossed, it's us.
From twitter:
Doncaster and Walsall are interested in taking PNE defender Andy Boyle on loan.

From what I understand, rumours linking Rovers with Preston's Andy Boyle are accurate. Deal expected to be done over next day or so #drfc
-
Deal will have to be done over the next day or two as the window closes very shortly

Set to sign from Preston. Not sure if it's loan or permo
-
Could be both of them... Fergie wanted 2 in, ideally you'd want to get them in as early as possible to bed them in for the weekend, get a full week in training together and such
Still wouldnt feel comfortable with one loan CB and Alcock at the back, arguably can be blamed for 2 of the 3 on Saturday
-
"Andrew Boyle is an Irish professional footballer. He primarily plays as a centre-back. Boyle currently plays for Preston North End in the EFL Championship, having moved from League of Ireland Premier Division side Dundalk in January 2017. "

Hope there's more than one CB coming in

Alcock isn't a centre back - at any stretch. He isn't a bad player - just doesn't have the attributes of a centre back.
-
Anderson, aged 24 and Boyle, 26.
Both fit, for a start and furthermore, the right age. It appears they might grow on trees, after all. That is IF we sign them.
Here's hoping!
-
It appears it may be a loan and maybe, fingers crossed, a permanent as well.
-
Credit to Fergie, looks a good un

The third goal, yes.
Which other one.
He did superbly well at Scunny by the way.
-
He’s a good age, impossible to know if he’s any good without having seen him play.
-
and Burnley isn't far from preston so he can save on petrol if he gets the other bloke
-
Lawlor came out for the ball for the equaliser and Alcock headed it straight to their winger for the cross in for the goal
-
Lawlor was on his line when Alcock kicked the ball away.
Maybe the keeper didn’t shout for him to leave it, from behind the goal I didn’t hear a shout.

Mmmm

Although I haven't seen any official confirmation, thanks for the updates lads and credit to DF & co for getting things moving in such a short period of time.
-
Sounds the right notes to me
-
Bit worrying that information is starting to leak out the club again. He'd be a good signing though.
-
It may not be leak. The DFP may have asked DF and given the anxiousness to hear news, they may have felt reasonably confident to put it out in the public domain. Either that, or something's come out at the Preston end.
-

You have got to remember there are four parties involved in a transfer, two clubs, a player and an agent. Information can come out from any of those.

He was on his way to Walsall until we came in for him so might be a 5th opportunity for a leak

Have a look on Rumours, it came from a journo at Preston, I believe.

Well, let's hope these leeks are boyled and we come up with something very tasty! 😉

Given the short time to get something sorted and the desperate position we have unexpectedly found ourselfs in,we have probably been in no position to be stealthy with our enquiries before the deadline.Im not that surprised to see it's possible a bit of info is getting out.
-
loan done for Boyle lets hope another one to come.
-
Is Fergie having his day in court today? If he is I wonder if this will affect when he signs, if he signs or whether there is anyone else lined up to come in.

Should n't affect anything, the CEO will be conducting negotiations

Maybe they're holding back for a double announcement 😜

It’s on Twitter
Doncaster Rovers have completed the loan signing of defender Andy Boyle until the end of the 2017/18 campaign.
The 26-year-old arrives from Sky Bet Championship side Preston North End, having made 12 appearances for the Lillywhites since joining them in January 2017.
The Republic of Ireland international is ready to go straight into Darren Ferguson's plans for the game against Portsmouth this weekend.
Boyle said: "I'm really looking forward to coming here and getting some game time, I want to play as many games as possible and try to climb higher in the table.
"I'm fit and ready and if the manager picks me, it makes it easier that we've got a game coming up straight away and it's a big game to have as my debut."

Is it on twitter yet? 😀

Yes hence the “quote”taken from from official DRFC Site

Welcome Andy! Just don't do anything too energetic or strenuous before Saturday please! 😉
-
And just by way of a bit of icing:
Doncaster Rovers will confirm the signing of a Premier League defender on Wednesday, we understand.
The centre half trained with the club yesterday alongside fellow new loanee Andy Boyle, whose switch from Preston North End was confirmed on Tuesday evening.
And both will be in the squad for Saturday’s trip to Portsmouth.

Looks likely to be a young kid then.
-
Burnley are in the Premier League. And the player that has been linked from there is not a kid.
-
I would say he's a very good age and gives us some height.

Agreed. Come through a good youth set up and racked up a decent amount of experience in loan spells. Ready to go straight into the team.
We’ve reacted well in a difficult situation bringing in two defenders that have decent career experience.
-
Very encouraging. I'll get my Rotherham tickets with a bit more confidence now!

Can’t argue with that, hopefully they will slot in well.
-
Am I the only one not too enthused with either signing? I’ve compiled as many reports and references about them both as I can and I’m not getting my hopes up.
-
Gaz, when you're starting from 0, the only way is up, my friend. I've read a few comments about our yet to be announced newcomer, but goals are being conceded from set pieces all too frequently, so hopefully they may well stem that particular tide. Then, 4-5 weeks later, we have (maybe) Butler and Wright back.

As a football supporter would you ever get your hopes up?
I’m not sure what your expectations are / were. But we’ve gone out and quickly brought in two players that have considerable experience.
-
Not yet, Jon. You're in danger of breaching the official secrets act!

I know nothing other than what the Free Press has made abundantly clear.

Very true. Wright and Butler have both been very good this season, I see it as pretty unlikely that these two will end up being at the same level. I hope I’m wrong. Luke coming back to fitness could be massive for us, infact he could be the one that ends up steadying the ship after a rocky period.
