Good afternoon,
I have been a long time visitor to this forum and often thought about joining in so finally thought I'd say hi.
I also feel we could do with talking about something else so figured now would be a good time to tell a story.
A few years ago after my wife's grandad died she and the rest of the family went to clear out the house, they came across lots of his wife's things, she had died many years before and my wife never met her. Amongst her things was a scrap book titled 'my doncaster rovers scrapbook'. This was a shock to everyone as none of them knew anything of her football love and doubly surprising as me and my wife had only just started dating so the rovers connection was unexpected.
In her scrapbook were newspaper articles about games she had attended, pictures of the crowd with circles showing where she stood and other rovers related memorabilia. This all dates from the mid 50s when they lived relatively close by but she did travel including the Portsmouth fa cup game in Portsmouth. I'd be interested to know if any of you were also going then if anyone remembers rita dell/faulkner?
Any way I'm hoping the rovers connection doesn't skip another generation, my first born is due in November so will hopefully one day join us cheering on this crazy little team, its clearly in his blood!
