Good read as ever Fuzzy

Not to be forgotten that Rovers highest ever away league football win in our 133 years history was at Victoria Park - 6-0 on 30 September 1989 with Lee Turnbull (3), Les Robinson (2) and Steve Gaughan scoring the goals. I would be happy with 16% of that today because I think Pools will be up for it and are due a good performance.

Ever since I was a kid I have had my own nickname for the Monkey Hangers - Hartelpoopls since that is how they were misprinted once in a national newspaper. Mind you the same edition also referred to Pork City so I think the poof proof readers must have a night on the leash lash.

 :scarf: :scarf: :scarf:

Hoping for a win but remembering we have late accidents there recently.

Once again disappointed that Husband drops to bench in favour on the lumps at the back. Hope they can match the fist half v Shrewsbury.

I've a feeling for a 1 - 1 with Saunders once again ruing missed chances but hope for a comfortable 2 - 0 win.

Isn't Flinders the kid who played for the Dingles and was tipped for England before a bad injury?

Sounds like we can't get a foot on it in the moment. Need to settle down and start dictating the pace again.

Scilly, sounds like Pool look dangerous on the break but Cotterill having a stormer on the right and put in 3 great crosses which we should have got something from. We're struggling to pick passes out but when we do we sound really dangerous.

Cotts puts in another blinding ball and Martis misses a sitter. D'oh!

HT 0-0. Sounds like they had a few really good chances, while we again seem to lack movement and creativity going forward! Sounds pretty poor at the moment.

Post by: MachoMadness on October 13, 2012, 04:03:08 pm
Yep, they had a couple of good chances towards the end and our only chance was when Martis put a free header over from a corner. Hopefully we go at them a bit more 2nd half.

Harper has one blocked that was a surefire goal according to RS.

Eeh Dutch. That 0-6 win. As Max Boyce would say, "I was there" with about 200 others. A grand highlight in a piss poor season.

Scilly - I found it frustrating on android phone when I was in a poor reception area - often, not always, I had to reload the browser to get it going again when the signal had dropped off. I find similar on my lap top tho - if lose commentary, it seems to help to click to opposition commentary then back to rovers.

Hartlepool on top at the mo, tho not a lot of danger

Ball and Husband stripped off... to come on?
Title: Re: Monkey 'angers v Rovers
Post by: MachoMadness on October 13, 2012, 04:26:19 pm
The amount of times I've heard "X looks for Y, but the ball just goes out of play" on this commentary blows my mind. Our movement does not sound too clever at the moment.

They go close yet again, living a bit of a charmed life at the moment. Paynter off, Ball on. Interesting.

According to player a 6 of one half a dozen of the other, something you see at every set piece!

b*llocks. Sounds controversial.

And Ball has one ruled out for a foul on the keeper. Not played well but not sounds like we haven't had any luck either.

Doubly controversial considering we had what was apparently a much clearer shout turned down!

Tho Syers didn't claim anything, so maybe fair enough on that one.

Seems likely it was both Shelts and Jones re their penalty.

Come on Rovers!  :scarf:  :boxing: :scarf: :boxing: :scarf:
Title: Re: Monkey 'angers v Rovers
Post by: MachoMadness on October 13, 2012, 04:41:39 pm
Martis off, Husband on. Why reorganise the defence when we're 1-0 down? Unless We're going 3 at the back, putting Husband out wide and Bennett up front.

Surely he has to be looking at dropping Bennett soon?

1-1 at the final whistle. A good point considering how bad we sounded, Rob Jones surely has to be our best signing since Sharp?

Did Martis go off injured?

According to RS he said something to the ref and after that he got nothing from him, gave away a penalty, got booked and was giving away free kicks every time he so much as breathed on a Pool player. So he was probably taken off so we could get a fair shout from the ref.
