They were all special so hard to pick just one.

As shocks go, this would be the biggest. The promotion from the conference will always be the one for me though, so, so important, yet hard to achieve.
This will feel more of a relief, because we were all so close just a few months ago to staring at the abyss once again.

The current fantasy promotion would be literally unbelievable considering where we were quite recently. Just scraping into 7th would be. So it would be the best in terms of the unlikeliness.

Stoke will never be eclipsed in importance for me. Regaining our stolen league status meant everything. A golden goal winner too.

Leeds at Wembley was amazing of course though. That’s what we’re all aiming at now.

All classics, but Penny's Champions promotion felt like the cherry on the icing on the cake. Solid.

Purely because of what happened in that one moment at Brentford I feel will never be beaten as far as promotions go but, this would be 2nd to it for me.

If rovers were a prem side that were third bottom a few months ago to be now on the verge now of a champions lge slot, the sporting MSM would be in meltdown over it.
What has happened to date is nothing short of miraculous.
Just a pub team…….

Terry doesn't have quite the same attraction as Dumb and Dumber for the media though.

If all the stars align and we achieve what many said was unthinkable in Feb and make the play off final the media coverage will be in overdrive due to the run needed to achieve it. More so than had we been around the top half all season. That should increase ticket sales and other merchandise  alone. Could be huge for us getting promoted this season. Everyone involved with DRFC including the fans have all played  apart. There has been some lows this last few years. The last 25 years has seen a lot of ups, but he last 10 despite the odd season under GM and DM has been tough. This could have a real snow ball effect if we can go up. So get friends or people you know who stopped going games to turn up and let's get the boys over the line and I to the play off and beyond. I honestly feel promotion this year the way we will of achieved it will have a massive knock on effect.

It is an impossible question to answer imo.

Every one was special in its own way.

The Conference one was possibly the most important.
Without that one then none of the others that followed would have happened.

For me personally to see Rovers play at Wembley was something I thought I may never see.
To play Leeds United at Wembley was definitely something I could only dream about and made it something very very special.
That win for Rovers got the club to the 2nd tier for the first time in 50 years also.
So for the above reasons that has to be my favourite I think.

Brentford was unbelievable. That team had a serious desire to win, a fabulous team spirit and tremendous leadership.

The achievement by Dave Penney’s team to get a back to back promotions in 03/04 & win the league with 92 points was a superb achievement. A team that played with flair and was great to watch.

This season hasn’t finished yet but if we were to win the play offs from being 21st in the league on 2nd Feb, that would be the biggest achievement in terms of how unlikely it was.
It would surely be one of the most remarkable promotions in the history of the game would it not?

So don’t anyone say it’s not interesting being a DRFC supporter.
It’s a roller coaster.
There are not many dull seasons are there.
Yes the previous 2 were awful as was of course 97/98, but we haven’t had many in the 49 seasons I have been following the Rovers.

Up there with all the promotions you mention is the turnaround under SOD from Xmas onwards for us to stay in the Championship in our first season up..

That’s a totally different question. Yes it was a remarkable turn round.

The question asked is which of the promotions in the OP is the best.

Notice you did not include the promotion in 2016/17 from league 2 with Fergie as manager.

That one would come bottom of the list imo because we had a squad which should have won the league. In what looked like a one horse race with 5 games to play we threw away the title which was imo unforgivable even though the objective of promotion was achieved.

All depends what you are basing this on

If it's sheer dominance, nothing beats 2003/04

If it's quality of football and the theatre of the final match, 2007/08.

If it's simple redemption, 2002/03.

If it's blunt efficiency and the DRAMA of the final minute, 2012/13.

But. If we get promoted this year, from where we were 10 weeks ago, that would beat the lot.

We've not done too bad at making fantasy become reality.

Time to dust off that record 'The Impossible Dream' ?

I always find it interesting the Ferguson L2 promotion gets forgotten. Must be the only crap promotion in our history.

This would surely be up there with the conference promotion though. That was my first watching the Rovers and I'll never forget it.

The promotion was great, confirmed with five games to go too.
It was just the capitulation in those last five games that spoilt it.
I asked Copps afterwards what his thoughts were about not getting the Champions medal and he said it really hurt.

Chesterfield fans are not happy with the lack of effort since they gained promotion.
The lack of momentum could really hurt them next year.

Fergie let them go out on the p*ss and have a promotion party when being crowned Champions should have been the priority. Totally unprofessional.

The Barrow Bit.

Unbelievable today. Thought it might be a game too far and at half time I thought a team who had a great game plan had really done a number on us. At 60 minutes I couldn’t see what McCann had hoped to achieve with the subs. But he, and we, absolutely nailed it. That was huge.

It would probably be the most unlikely.
