Title: Wrexham
Post by: Alan Southstand on March 28, 2024, 10:35:25 pm
Wrexham Accounts have been posted on X.

Tried copying but for some reason it’s not having it.

Losses of over £5M.

Tried to modify it and the words that I’ve copied are there, but after I press save, they disappear?

If someone can do a link that maybe the best.

Thanks Dav, not the one I’d seen on X, but tells the same story.

I’ve smelt a bit of a rat from the off with Wrexham. If it sounds too good to be true then it usually is.

We lost £2m last season. Given we got relegated and they got promoted, which was worse?

They had a near £7m wage bill in non league. That's mental and it'll be far bigger this season too.

Can't compete with that, impossible.

I wonder what they will do it they don’t go up.
Start trimming back or go again racking more up.

They can't stop, they have a dream to sell.

Sounds like Bolton all over again who also appear to be racking up the debts again

Think they will go up just.
Fancy us on Tues against them.

They are on very dodgy territory with their finances.
This Very likely will end in tears as it does for most clubs who spend well beyond their means.
Are these 2 guys going to cover all these debts and lose millions of their own money?

Good luck to them,
I think they’ll be touching the prem within 3 years.
All those debts will disappear then

Don't forget that we also had significant debt to our owners at various stages which they ultimately wrote off or converted to equity - there's nothing to say that the Wrexham owners won't do the same.

This level of losses is clearly unsustainable long-term but if they continue to rise up the leagues and get significant commercial revenue their books could become more balanced.

They'll be fine. They've increased their turnover massively and are still exploring their potential.

There's no reason to question the Hollywood's stars commitment but there will be tests further down the line when things become more routine and expectations have to be tempered. They've already said they have to get finances on a sustainable footing, so it's their ego's which will determine how sustainable they want to be.

We've seen the Salford project settle back into 'routine' sustainability when the costs eat into their pockets too much, and they seek 'additional' investment. That's when the trouble starts when nobody wants to lavish millions on clubs with limited potential without strings attached.  Wrexham have some way to go yet.

I think they’ll be alright, just them two being there has boosted their fan base and money they can generate from merchandise/sponsorship. They’ve obviously picked Wrexham as there’s room to grow with no other clubs being nearby. They won’t pick up and leave them in the shit because there’d be too much bad press for the both of them.
