Title: General Election next year (2022)
Post by: wilts rover on January 11, 2021, 05:53:45 pm
Well we haven't had one for a while have we...

The theory here is that 2023-24 will see the government having to raise taxes and impose further austerty cuts, so if the vaccination programme works properly, next year will be a better time for Johnson to go to the polls

I wondered how they could do that and was going to ask about the Fixed Term Parliament Act

I should have known they would have it covered       https://www.gov.uk/government/news/government-to-fulfil-manifesto-commitment-and-scrap-fixed-term-parliaments-act

Get that into law with their 80 seat majority - will pass in no time - and then call an election Bingo

Why dont they go the whole hog and say no 2nd Scottish Referendum or no 2nd EEC Referendum or no Vote on PR for 100 years and have done with it

OR is there is a 2nd Referendum on ANY of the above the majority to make a change away from the current status must be at least 70% or it fails ?
