Title: Lets talk about the Blackburn game
Post by: selby on April 22, 2018, 11:10:15 am
A very very interesting game on Tuesday evening, against what could be described as one of the money bags teams in the division, although whether that is a reference to the money they lose each season, or the wages they pay out I will leave to you to decide.
In Graham, Bennett  and Dack they have a potent attack, and  probably get paid more than our squad put together.
I would expect Coppinger and Beestin to return, as Fergie gets back to his system of a couple of changes a game, only Marquis seeming to have no competition for a start which is probably true anyway.
We are going for an unlikely double, after a good wi at Ewood early in the season, and no doubt Blackburn would not like that to happen.
A big improvement would be a Lino that is not instructed by the referee to leave the penalty area to him, but I may be asking too much there.
So,what team would you go with?
Can we get a result, or with Wigan coming up are
we in danger of yet again a poor finish to the season?
What formation would you play against their 3 4 2 1?
Are we due a change of luck with penalty awards? if one comes along
Are we capable of a big result against one of the better sides again?
   Please have your say

We're unlikely to get a penalty with that Muppet Ilderton in charge. Just hope he doesn't give Blackburn one.

It wouldn't surprise me to see us start with three at the back and Blair and Mason at wing back. Beestin and Williams should come in. Copps - I have mixed feelings. Possibly on the bench to keep his powder dry for the next two games.

I’d fancy our chances with that side!
As we’d have more players than them on the pitch 😂

I’d like to see a team that involves players in their best positions.

Mason at right back
Amos or Garrett at left back
Houghton in central midfield

What is your reason for dropping Marquis? I presume you’ve not watched us for the second part of this season?

I don't know what has gone on with Garratt but I'll be surprised if he plays for Ferguson again. The fact Amos was on the bench yesterday speaks volumes.

Because Ferguson said his hamstring is hanging off... We've seen with Rowe what playing people with injuries does. Waste of a season ticket if I've not gone for half a season.

Unfortunately ith them on the verge of Auto Promo I can see nothing other than a defeat (for us)

Reckon 0-2 or 1-3 . I am crap at tipping anything lately so hope for the reverse "effect" of course

Got to have Marquis in though surely #2 ? And yes as has been hinted at Ilderton is a big BIG worry as the Ref

Sorry to say but they will come here for revenge after our early season win and expecting at least a 3 or 4 nil defeat. This game will really show how far our squad is off challenging for the playoffs. Also expecting another completely inept ref would surprise me if Fergie gets sent to the stands.

They have even greater motivation than that - a win will see them officially promoted. I expect a big following from Blackburn and a very tough evening for our Rovers.

Blackburn fan here.

Seems a long time ago since your win at Ewood! You ran rings round us that day, remember walking back after it thinking we wouldn't have a chance of play offs. Turned out it was a turning point for us, we dropped the back three in favour for a 4-2-3-1 that has done wonders for us every since. Hard to say what will happen Tuesday night. We haven't played well the last three or four games but with a win guaranteeing promotion i'd expect the players to have a little bit extra. We're apparently trying to get a bigger allocation at the moment having sold out of 2900 (900 were given extra on top of the original 2000) i'm sure you usually allocate up to about 4000?

My expected line up 4231: Raya - Bennett Lenihan Mulgrew Williams - Evans Smallwood - Conway Dack Armstrong - Graham.

Score prediction: 2-2

Any advice on parking/where to go for a quick pint before the game would be much appreciated.

All the best

Sad to say I won't be there, daughter booked tickets for Frank Turner months ago when the date was free, she only needs me for transport though, I'd sooner be at The KM

Depends which rovers turn up - my guess us we'll play one decent half and one dogsh*t one and lose heavily, something along the lines of 3-0/4-1. Hope I'm wrong, and I'll be cheering us on but after Saturday and last Tuesday I suspect the flip flops and sun hats to be evident again!

Blackburn have sold 3759 tickets for this game, so a large gate for a mid week game.
Parking could be a problem and traffic around the ground,I don't envy them travelling on the M62 at that time of day, but at least we may have a good atmosphere at the KM, let's hope we play well and the game is a good spectacle for the fans.
Let's make them earn promotion the hard way, preferably at the weekend.

Did we not once give Leeds 4800, that would do I would think. More the merrier.

Be nice to see a good away following.

As for the game, who knows. I suspect we will get a beat of beating, but we do like to raise our game. However, nothing for us to play for... 0-3.

Blackburn fan Park at the Cheswold pub have a pint in there then walk round the lake to the ground. Enjoy the match but don't take any points home.

Looking at Saturday performance and resting players the two options I see the team for tomorrow.

                      Marosi

Baudry    Anderson    Butler.      Amos

     Mason.     Whiteman.   Houghton

               Beestin.         Coppinger

                          Marquis.

Lawlor
Boyle
McCullough
Kongolo or James
Blair
May
Williams

                          Marosi

         Anderson.   Butler.     Baudry

Mason.  Whiteman.     Houghton.       Amos

             Beestin.               Coppinger

                          Marquis

DF said that didn’t want give McCullough games close together plus it’s my opinion he was not good enough on Saturday.
Playing Amos gives a left footed player but with Houghton and Coppinger on that side would help him.
Mason on the right gives us balance and I think Blair as been poor last two games although he is more attacking.

I hope the players don’t think we have nothing to play for (I don’t for one minute think they will think that).
For a start they have to play for us, the supporters who pay to watch.

Everything to look forward to in this game, a good side coming, decent football weather, not too cold or hot and not a lot of wind, except on the terraces.
Dack and Graham will take some looking after, and we will have to be more clinical in front of goal, but at our best we are a match for the other teams in this division, but we don't have enough of those days unfortunately.

OK IT'S i'M Spartacus time (when every poster claims they had the bet  like in the film)

I remember when Rovers won at Blackburn one poster said on here "that's £10 i'll never see again"

oh he of little faith me thought at the time -- in fact he's had a very good run for his money think he said 9/1 he got

so would the real  Spartacus own up --  to the £10 bet   :crying: :crying:

A great game to watch, and a great effort from the team, against probably the best team to visit the KM this season.
A word for our back four, they to a man were outstanding, and the rest of the team also played very very well, Blackburn deserved to shade the game, but we have now set our standard high with that display, I don't think we can play much better, or give any more effort than we did tonight, with the players we have.
I am disappointed with the result, but we cannot complain when we have given our all, and come up against a better team who will know they have been in a right old scrap.
So best wishes and congratulations to Blackburn, if we play like that in the last three games, and have a little luck, we can finish the season well.

Agree with every word.  I really enjoyed the match tonight though felt disappointed with the result. We deserved the point. To a man our team gave everything.

Pissed off that the ref didn't allow Marquis to play on when he gave a fairly early free kick as he'd have probably gone and scored the opener.

Yeah he did it a couple of times. But much as I dont like him as a ref I thought he had a pretty good game tonight.
