For those on twitter, this brought back memories, its not us its Sunderland, but anyone else remember us all sliding down that mud bank when we won there in the Leyland DAF trophy?

Loved that night.

I remember sliding down it at a league game around this time. Or maybe a cup game. It was a non-league ground and never got up to league standard even in those pre-Taylor report days. I still think of Wigan as that level of club.

Never seen anything skinnier before nor since

I remember going there for the first time in March 1979 which I believe was Wigan's first season in the EFL .

The pitch was an absolute mud bath , ridiculous even by 1970's standards .

As it was practically everyone's first visit to Springfield Park most first went to the Rugby League ground Central Park  having spotted the floodlights .

Some cracking memories of those times in the old fourth division , Northampton and it's three sides because of the shared cricket .

Walking around a cricket ground to get to Feethams Darlington .

Friday night games at Stockport .

Saturday night games at Torquay to help with the travel .

Privet hedges at Exeter .

Going to Pompey and thinking it was a first division stadium at the time .

The speedway track at Halifax Town and Watford .

Walking through Kings Park Bournemouth to get to Dean Court .

That magnificent stand looking out of place at The Old Show Ground .

The ramshackles of Somerton Park Newport and Spotland .

Cracking days and a thousand memories .

Jumpers for goalposts? Hmm? Hmm?

Mum! Mum! I've grazed my knee again.

TCP. Marvellous.

I remember ending up wet through that night and I’ve still got the rain damaged programme from the game. A great night and just about dried out when we got back to Bradford.

That away game and result on a rain soaked Tuesday evening is a great memory of one my favourite all time Rovers teams.

I remember the damp cinema seats in the main stand at Spotland and taking the wife to the Victoria ground (Hartlepool not Stoke) and women not being allowed in to the social club in the corner.

Saturday afternoon I believe that BB played. Bossed the match & all their youngsters trying to take the ball from him.

I was there in those days .The shed up the hill was the only cover if it was raining. If they were getting beat the Wigan fans would drift over from the covered terrace to the exit on the other side.
