Apologies to the club
« on January 30, 2020, 02:11:35 pm by phil old leake »
I have been quite negative on here spouting off about how I thought the club wouldn’t sign anyone of any consequence
It would appear that I was wrong and the 2 players that have come in on paper should help push us into the top 6
I just wish i could be there on Saturday to hopefully see them both start
Well done DRFC

Likewise I have aired my frustrations on here.. it has took 5 months and to the end of January to get some forwards in but they have played and scored at our level, young enough to get better and progress higher and we have done well.. well done DRFC.. I did recall the other day how we fought off a bid for Marquis at the end of Jan last year which showed our intent and likewise the club have done it again with two potentially very good forward signings..

Well said!! I think most of us have been pessimistic at times born out of frustration.
It’s all looking very positive now . Come on you reds!! Thanks DRFC 👍

Nice one. Respect for that.

Just wish one or two more on here would hold their hands up and admit they are not always right.
Especially in regard to the backing the board give to the manager.
We are not a club that’s going to gamble it’s future away. Very lucky to have our owners, just tragic some can’t see it, or just don’t want to see it.

I certainly got it wrong as thought any striker we would get would be another loan one.
Hold my hands up on that one.

Fair play for that Phil, and Donny Exile.

Hopefully the more pessimistic contingent in the fanbase can have a bit of renewed faith in the club and those tasked with taking us forward now. They've earned it I reckon.

It's fair to say that feeling apprehensive about our activity up until the last few days was warranted.

But it's how certain posters put that across that separates the supporter base. Personally I have faith in the club to do the right thing, and try to reflect that when I'm commenting.

Allow me this moment of philosophy ..let it be a life lesson not to screw up your days with worry about things ..the future is not yet written and  today is for sure ours to enjoy .

Great to hear fans getting behind the team again.

One of the reasons I thought people were getting frustrated was the speculative names that were being put forward and then nothing happened. I was extremely pleased with both signings and completely surprised by who they were. Nothing was revealed until the Shrews local paper blew the whistle on Fejiri Okenabirhie.

Well done to the Rovers team who conducted the search and signings without letting the cat out of the bag.

Looks like we are going to have to deal with the way Rovers negotiate, and not get fussed when we have no news.
I can't ever see Darren getting  garrulous!!

The impatience of some fans on here, and also on Twitter, was particularly irritating as was the unfounded criticism of club, board, chairman etc..

Respect to the OP.  Much more optimism about the place now..

I’ve always been behind the team and have always been glad the board run the club in a proper manner

I’d just lost hope of anyone decent coming in. I’m glad to admit I was wrong.

Again good on the club and DM

Maybe the lad from villa might sign which would absolutely top it off

Yes a good post and dont worry. I am off Saturday so will add a cheer for you.

So thats 2 per Rovers goal -= 6. Be ironic if the 2 newbies were both on the scoresheet as well

As I’ve said on another thread, hats off to you for coming on here & happily taking your slice of humble pie.

Now onwards & upwards & anyone who comes on the forum before Saturdays game with a negative post needs jumping on. Metaphorically of course.

The most laughable element was the conspiracy theorists - there MUST be something wrong if we haven’t signed anyone yet. Errr or maybe it was just getting the right deals for the right players at the right time, rather than on a timescale to suit the impatient and panic merchants.

With all due respect to the fact that I don't go to games anywhere as much now as I have done up until a couple of years ago - I'd just like to say that, with thanks to my time on both the Board of the VSC and the supporters board - that I think the club is in (in everything bar league position) the best shape it has ever been in.

I have, still do and always will trust in the rovers current board to deliver on their promises - I appreciate they do things slower than most would like - but it's not a quick fix running a football club that is needed - it's a proper long term aim to keep the club alive, competing at the highest table it can with some great people in high positions at the club pulling in the same direction.

The current top table at drfc is one of the best around and long may that continue - they put in full due diligence searches on just about everything they can. Yes there are still (and always will be) areas to improve - be that big things like manager/player salaries, profit/loss margins and the playing/coaching facilities down to the smaller things like sorting the catering out long term.

I (despite my absence on match days over the last couple of seasons or so) am immensely proud of my club and the people that run it - long may it continue!

It's far easier said than done to 'have patience' but as rovers fans that commodity is a valuable one which takes some breeding!

Again, respect where it's due to people who are big enough to admit they were wrong/mistaken.

Onwards and upwards.

We have signed two strikers of a great age, proven at this level.  On permanent signings too..

What’s not to like.?

Previous to DRFC Marquis was a 1in 4 striker, at DRFC he was a 1 in 2 striker, at his present club he is a 1 in 4 striker

Worth the wait these two and while Idah from Norwich maybe talented i'm kind of glad we got two permenant players instead. Love the comment about Marquis some real stretching there to find a negative! both Cole and Freji seem to have better records than Marquis when we signed them
