Has Labour got this weeks Mp troubles completely wrong?? First we have Jared O Mara who has today been suspended from the Labour party..for what is claimed to be abuse from a rejected date prior to him being a MP and a few lewd comments about a girl band when he was a slip of a lad...On the other hand Ian Lavery MP seems happy to defend his actions of basically taking £165'000 of card carrying union members money for a loan and redundancy payments he wasn't entitled to and running of with the cash without remorse...Of course he is a Corbynite so nothing is said about that...I know what I think is worse!!!!!!!

Thanks for the info about this WC. Other than the Newsnight report and investigation by the Certification Office for Trade Unions and Employers Associations that cleared Lavery of any wrong doing I hadn't heard about it.
I had heard of the press release by David Amess in which he defended the actions of Harvey Weinstein by claiming that 'the sudden flurry of alleged inappropriate advances beggars belief', but of course he is a Tory so you wont have done will you.

Sad for society that these people represent all parties really.
The labour MP and his comments, little silly. Not a fan of dragging up items from a fair while in the past though which I think some are - everyone makes mistakes growing up and says a few out of turn things. If it's more recent (I'm not really clued up on the story) different matter. But an apology for the past items and move on. The key point is essentially can the guy be a good MP going forwards now?
The whole union pay thing I find a little stunning. It goes massively against what Labour's USP and policies are supposed to be isn't it? But it's ok it was within the rules. It might be but it's hypocritical given some of their policies.
As for anyone defending Weinstein - madness. Zero tolerance on that kind of abuse and if proven guilty which there's little doubt really he is he deserves what he gets. Nobody, nobody should defend that!
It sums up how our politics are in this country though, really quite poor.

Is OMara an example of "Straight Talking Honest Politics" beloved of the pro and anti EU,pro and anti migration controls Labour or is he what Billary Clinton called The Basket of Deplorables?
Anyway i'm off to hire a minibus and get loads to campaign in the Hallam constituency,least worst option and all that :clapping:

Wilts, I got the Idea from Jeremy Paxman on University Challenge. I don't know if you've seen it but if you have you might have noticed that he reads out questions from cards. Now, these cards also provide the answers to them. A lot of quizzes use this process.
It might seem to you a daft way of asking questions, but how do those asking the questions know if the answers are right if they don't already know the answers?

Yep anyone to remove Clegg wasn't it the students union at Sheffield Hallam should be proud of their selection and push to get the student vote out.
It or rather they removed an experienced politician versed in the ways of European politics and politicians ( useful for Brexit negotiations ) and replaced him with the fantastic Jared. Well done SHSU

Actually Wilts at the minute I am Politically neutral waiting for one of them to convince me they are worth the effort...I agree that up until know I have been a tory voter but if a election was called tomorrow I wouldn't vote for them with how they are performing but nor would I vote for any other party...But Socialists cant have it both ways and I will criticise them all at the minute..Especially champagne Socialists like Lavery, a Corbyn ally who seems to have completely escaped censure for this which I find unbelievable...At the time O Mara was suspended on the statement of a ex girlfriend although other things have come to light since..It seems Labour is the same as any other Party..if your face fits Corbyn will wrap you in a protective blanket..If it doesn't he's happy to throw you to the wolves...

I dont have any problem with you criticising the wrong doing, fraudlent and criminal activities of any ner do well in any political party so long as you show balance. But you didn't. You picked up on O'Mara - but ignored Amess (and now Gove). You say Corbyn keeps people in the Labour Party if their face fits - so why is Anne Marie Morris still in the Tory Party? You want action against Lavery - but seem happy to see Fox back in a major cabinet post after what he did.

Actually Wilts balance is what I was trying to show,you could put a red rosette on a Donkey in Doncaster and it would still get in..take a look at the threads on this page before we get all judgemental about balance...However I agree with you on Liam Fox if it's any consolation....
