Listening to Football Heaven on the way to the match last Friday it sounded as though he is likely to - or isn't thinking of going anywhere!

Of course the reality is he could get a bigger club with more money - if he dosent sign today or tomorrow then I am resigned to losing him!

Likely that discussions put on hold until xmas with plenty of time for his agent to put the feelers out!

I disagree , think he will sign up hot on the heels of Copps and Woods in the next couple of weeks.  B)

Agreed- it is fantastic news. Best full-back outside the Prem IMHO- and not a bad centre-back either.

Am I right in thinking that just leaves Chambers and Stock to sort out?

That's a relief - for some reason I was getting worried about whether JOC would sign.

Brilliant news.

Great news!

A bit surprised to be honest too, as I was assuming he'd be walking in January/next Summer.

Well done DRFC and well done James O'Connor.  :scarf:

Brilliant news. Players like JO'C are hard to come by, well done Rovers on getting him signed up.

Great news!

He's probably our most consistent player, and definitely deserves a reward for his form.

Get Stocky to sign up for another 2 years in January and we've completed the set!

O'Connor has undoubtedly been our best player over the last three seasons.

Think about who we've secured the services of over the last few months - Sharp, Friend, Thomas, Oster, Woods, O'Connor, Coppinger.

How much would we have been looking at trying to secure a similar lot from scratch?

I think its a signal of intent that the club is sorting deals to tie our best assets down in long contracts.  Stability is key for us.  If we can keep the nucleus of this side together I think that guarantees us at least 3 more championship seasons (or higher!!!)

Very good points Rob. If we have a core of O'Connor, Stock, Woods, Sharp, Oster tied down to the club, we are at the very least a very solid mid-table Championship side.

O'Connor has quietly gone about making himself one of the top 10 players I have ever seen pull on a Rovers shirt, and the fact that we can retain players of this quality speaks volumes for our financial strength and ambition.
