Belles tonight v Sheffield
« on August 30, 2022, 09:59:28 am by VivaRovers »
Belles play their first home game of the season tonight at Thorne Colliery's ground in Moorends. Should be a decent one as they host the early league leaders Sheffield FC.

So if, like me and many others, you feel that the addition of Premier League 'B' teams has cheapened the Papa John's Trophy to the point of not worth bothering with, then here's some local football tonight you can absolutely get behind. 7.45pm kick-off.

The only club you are hurting with your stance is your own not the Premiership sides the cost of playing the game and manning one stand is paid by our club

By that logic we should blindly accept any ruling that the associations feel like putting in place.

If it appears that 'B' teams have been blithely accepted into the trophy, then it nudges open the door to the FA/EFL allowing 'B' teams into the Football League. One of the key ways to show that this isn't the case is with your feet/wallet. As a fan, non-attendance is the most important weapon we have.

Anyway, big game for the Belles tonight. Hope there's a decent crowd at Thorne.

Viva it would cost us more not to enter if the premiership sides withdrew the grant attached to the competition, Unfortunately the grants to the EFL lower division clubs depends on the u21s entering the competition.
Hopefully there are a few in attendance at Thorne, but you might be a bit lonely on the floating attendance.
I admire your stance, don't agree with it though, and like most things people are gradually accepting the inevitable and attendances are slowly growing especially as now some quite big city old fashioned  sides from places like Sheffield are involved.

Belles have made a good start to the season, well done to them.

Definitely better to go and watch them than any Papa John's game in my opinion.

Done without Nadia Khan who is currently on international duty with Pakistan, which makes it even more impressive!

Massive well done to her, BTW!

Yes, that's the girl I was thinking of. No Saxton in the squad and Khan away too, so a good result last night.

Hannah McWIlliams and her sidekick Jasmine Saxton decided they were too good for the Belles and left on the eve of the first game of the season against Lincoln.
260 in attendance against Sheffield btw.

Where did they go BVB? Somewhere that supports their claim to be 'too good for the Belles'?

That's lousy behaviour. I know the Belles are very much an amateur outfit at the moment but it's a complete lack of decency on their part.

In more positive news, despite losing 3-0 to India it was fantastic to see Nadia Khan playing for Pakistan today. Looks like she made a couple of great individual runs too.

Is there anyway of supporting funding for the Belles similar to the Alliance lottery

Yes they are. Up to £500 a player a month at one club I have heard from a reliable source.

Not specific lottery as such, but maybe something worth considering by the Belles.

There are of course the player sponsorship/ match sponsorship options that can be found here! https://www.doncasterroversfc.co.uk/belles/club/commercial/

McWIlliams was unhappy that she hadn’t been starting games ahead of players that in her view she was better than.
In everyone-else’s view, she wasn’t - apart from Saxton, who is her sidekick.

I understand they have gone to Brighouse.

To be fair to the two players in question, they have the right to make the decision to leave without being lambasted for doing so.
It is something that happens all the time in football.

'How' and 'when' do have a role in that decision making process...... And in 24 posts in this thread I can see only one which criticises the pair.  Even that is an aside. It hardly lambasts them given the nature of comment on this forum.

But surely how and when is the players decision.
None of us on here know how and when the option to go to another club came about either.

Anybody, all of us, can do things in a graceful, thoughtful, polite way if we choose to. Or we can do the opposite from one or more of malice, ignorance or plain not thinking.

Do you know that the girls left in a none polite way though.
For example, did they get an offer they couldn’t refuse then inform the club that they wanted to leave.
It hasn’t been made clear either way.
