John Ryan
« on April 07, 2013, 11:38:02 am by Chris Black come back »
What a guy. What a decade.

Conference Play Off winners 2003
Division Three title winners 2004
Johnstone's Paint Trophy winners 2007
League One Play Off winners 2008
League One title winners 2013 ??

Is there a more important man in the 130+ year history of Doncaster Rovers?

No.

Totally agree.
We wouldn't have a club without him

I wonder what the chances would be of getting him in the South Stand for the Notts County game like he has done before.

Never mind that, they should name the South Stand after him!

Do we have to wait until the john ryan era has been and gone before we get a statue of JR and name a stand after him?

Love the guy! RTID

Steve Fletcher had a stand named after him at Bournemouth while he was still playing for them. Pretty sure we would be able to rename it after John.

And it's not as if we'd have the problem of him coming back and biting us on the arse as an opposing player/manager, for obvious reasons.

I'd back that.

Name a stand after him - we should name the whole flipping stadium after him!! Without JR we wouldn't have a ground or a club.

I propose we erect a statue. He'll not give up 'til he's dead or we're in the Premiership

Well it would perhaps be more appropriate if we had a 'bust' made !

How is that freedom of the town thing coming along?

No honour is too great for him in my opinion, JR absolutely the most important figure we have ever had at Rovers and when he eventually steps down we'll be a poorer club for it.

The whole Board of Directors deserve our thanks for their backing .
I have the greatest respect for Mr Ryan(SIR) but like the boys on the field we are not a one man band my heart felt thanks goes to everyone from top to bottom of the club

There's no reason why us supporters couldn't call one of the stands 'The JR Stand'. Who cares what it's called officially anyway? It's only a temporary name paid for by some daft marketing pillock.

East Stand = The Terry Bramall Stand
West Stand = The Dick Watson Stand
South Stand = The John Ryan Stand

I live in London and watched the Swindon game at home on Sky. Someone piped up 15 mins into the game and asked what that bloody hell that big banner was that kept coming into shot on the far side of the ground. I explained a bit about Soviet constructavist art and then the Ryan revolution story. They bloody loved it. And of course so do we. Whatever happens in the future that fella deserves a very pleasant life.

Well, Tezza and Dicky Boy have the stadium named after them :) We have Alick Jeffrey Way. We should vote for four important figures from Rovers past? Sir John + who else. Franny? Clarrie Jordan? Peter Heritage? Kitch?

There's more than enough Heritage Centres around the country !!!

I like the sound of the Ryan Arena.
