Rochdale player Beesley knocked out in a collision with the goalkeeper.

One of the Rochdale players took a blow to the head, looks like there was a possibility of a serious neck injury. Potentially very serious, but hopefully not.

E: Just seen there were a total of 19 minutes added because of the time needed to treat him and move him very carefully onto a stretcher. Fingers crossed for the lad.

Sounds like big Tom's injury at Rotherham 3 seasons ago.

It’s not done much for Plymouth as they’re 3-0down at ht.

That was just eight minutes though I seem to remember.

They need to change the rules in footy and policys. Wouldn't have affected this and hopefully the lads ok but football is woefully poor when it comes to head injuries

Checking twitter it seems he's being discharged tonight so nothing imminently serious for him. Whether it's his head, neck, or both, who knows when he'll be playing again though.

What do you mean “woefully poor” with head injuries.?  Do you mean causing them, or dealing with them.?  If the latter, taking 19 mins or so to deal with one isn’t rushing is it.?

I don’t think you can take the risk out of football completely.?

Looks like that injury affected the Plymouth players. Yes that was a serious shock result last night.
It was Plymouth first home defeat and I think it was Rochdale first away win.
Would have got great odds on 0-4 i suspect.

It still doesn’t seem to be taken seriously enough for me. In the Wolves-Arsenal game, Jimenez & Luiz clashed and Jimenez was taken to hospital. Luiz looked like he didn’t know where he was, had his head heavily bandaged with blood continuing to seep through and yet was permitted to continue to half time, when he was withdrawn. I’m not a medical expert but I’m not sure he should have continued at all.

David Luiz certainly should not have continued. The concussion protocols currently in place for football are seriously, seriously lacking.
