Just about to post something similar myself.
Whilst this news is justice to some of the Pompey fans and not those who demand success at any price, it certainly isn't justice to the other clubs in the Football League who do things by the book.
First Notts County and now Portsmouth have cheated their way to success. Absolutely disgusted, 110%.
Pretty much my feelings towards this too. Overall it's annoying that clubs continue to get any with this cheating to succeed but on the other hand i'm happy for the fans who to an extent, still have a club to support.

think about how chester city went to the wall and where
was their leaway when required?

Be interesting with the new rules when uncle ken has to reveal the owners of leeds.
obviously anyone with a bit of history (no matter how long ago) is favoured

How do clubs get away with tax, pompey only have to pay 20p in every pound yet if its a normal working man like with council tax and stuff you get possible sanctions such as jail. But football clubs get away with it makes my blood boil!

The rule came out yesterday, they're major shareholder is a holding company on the Carribean island of Nevis and their owner is a Swiss company who's backers are unknown.
Still a cop out and Bates still has the veil of secrecy over the ownership.
How lucky we really are!

The people that lose out on this is not the footballers of Portsmouth, they get 100% of the money they are due. It is the small companies that have provided a service to the club and are now not going to get them money that they expected to get the money. Ultimately we lose out ourselves as the taxman now does not have the money it was due, therefore they have to raise that money by other means.

Good point, Oslo. Chester owed the HMRC about £26k if memory served. However, a lot of Chester fans were wanting them to go to the wall so they could reform without the tossers at the helm they had, but that doesnt seem to have been a consideration in the decision.

Mr Justice Mann dismissed its application,
Assuming he is paid out of the public purse, perhaps he should be paid 20p in the £1 for that ruling !

People are up in arms about this because its a football club, however, businesses all over the country go into admin every day, and come out of it by paying HMRC and all their other creditors a very small proportion of what they are owed. Where are the people up in arms about that?
The only reason HMRC are going to town on football clubs is because football creditors get paid in full. So its plain to see that somewhere down the line, either football creditors will only be entitled to what other creditors are getting when a CVA passed, or the FA/PL agree that HMRC are also paid in full along with football creditors.
I don't condone what Portsmouth have done, but it is hard to see how they can make the situation better going forwards....
