Title: Write Off
Post by: MrFrost on September 11, 2010, 10:24:29 am
So, not surprisingly, my car is a write off.

My insurance company have offered me £300 for it. Take away my excess and that gives me £100.

Now I was looking for a new car, I managed to negotiate £1000 part ex for my car and i've told my insurers thats what i want for mine, but they wont budge above £300.

Is there anyway to negotiate what they pay out in write off claims.

What Car says the market value for my Mondeo is between £700 and £800.

I have in the past. My wife's Astra got written off years ago and I argued the toss and got another £350.

to be honest the most common way of negotiating with them is to find examples for sale on autotrader/ebay, print off the adverts and post them or email them to the insurer. basically its just a way of proving what the actual market value of the car is :)
