Title: Halal Meat
Post by: MrFrost on September 20, 2010, 09:46:48 am
Interesting story. I know its from The Sun,.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3144459/Halal-meat-secretly-served-to-thousands-by-venues-says-Masood-Khawaja.html

I personally don't care, but it seems some are up in arms about it.

As someone who spends their life getting splattered with blood, I have to say the thought of nicely drained meat is rather appealing.. There are times when I feel like freddy kruger on a bad day..lol

Sorry for all who are squeamish about little critters, but I don't honestly see what I work with as an animal. it is a commodity to process.

This isn't about what is right or wrong in the slaughtering process, in my opinion once again it is the red tops chance to put the boot in with the muslim community.

Remember Jewish kosha meat is prepared in a similar way..

Like you say, the story is trying to stir things up, however there are some valid points.

when I first went to work at the shop I knew nothing at all about butchery, but was put onto the deli/buchery counter..the butcher at the time had started off as a saturday boy, then worked in a slaughter house. he would not wear seude, and only worked on the veal calves once, after that he refused point blank.

There is no nice way of killimg a living creature sadly, and I have to say  couldn't fancy veal myself, I don't like rabbit, simply because i like rabbits, and I could never ever eat duck for the same reason. I'm squeamish in my own way.

Personally I think these companies shouldn't have kept quiet about the fact it was usuing meat prepared in this fashion, that way people would have the choice on wether they wanted to eat it or not.

But then, profit first, as always isn't it?
