Title: QPR v Rovers
Post by: Snods Shinpad 2 on September 24, 2010, 10:32:26 am
A bit early maybe, but I just fancied an excuse to post this again...

With the exception of the Derby game, QPR have yet to concede a League goal home or away and have scored at least twice in every game to date.

I'm sensing an ultra defensive Rovers set up (5-4-1), with an attempt to grab three points late on if successful.

I'm going for a classic smash and grab 0-1 Rovers victory, with a late Sharp penalty (83rd min) sealing the points, and the first Warnock rant of the season to follow shortly after full time.

Dunno why but I just got a feeling that this one will go our way with all the good noises coming out of DRFC with new contracts.

Think if we are drawing or losing after 70mins then I think sod will go for it broker, fairhurst, hayter coming on and changing to all out attack so will come away with something

A couple of quick stats from BBC.

We have accumulated a number of 'Firsts since'. Here's a chance for another.

Quote
Rovers have been beaten on their last four visits to QPR, and their last win there was a 2-0 victory in February 1952.

A victory for Doncaster would be their 400th away from home in the Football League.

• Seven different players have scored league goals for Rovers this season.
• Brian Stock is in line for his 250th league start, while Sam Hird is hoping to make his 100th Doncaster appearance.

You have to be impressed by the stats and the attitude, the best form of defence is attack! Maybe it is better we are not ahead otherwise we might sit back and try to defend in the second half.

Dissapointed with the result, but got taarebt and gorkss in my fantasy league team so cant be bad for that.

Think billy will come good when Hayter gets back in the starting line-up.

Second half capitulation yet again. What is SOD going to do to address that situation?

yep me as well. this has happened before - there is some firewall which locks you out if they loose the link\\but given we have missed 2 more ~QPR soft goals I think its better in silence

What on earth do you mean 'yet again'? We've lost two games all season.

Well absolutley gutted because we played so well. Story of chances not taken. Yet to see the chances we had but sounds like we can't get a foot through the ball to bury it.

We knew it would be a tough ask to get something here but played for better that I thought we would.

QPR had a bit of a helping hand, when they don't need it, and took their chances. That's the difference !

Far from it ! QPR commentators who you expect to give a biased view to QPR were very complimentary about Rovers play and they were really worried even when a goal up.

QPR fans comment says it all.

How we won that 3-0 I'll never know. Doncaster are the best team we have played this season and if we can beat good teams 3-0 whilst not playing well it's all good.

Just got bsck from the game, and have read through the comments on this thread. I'll give a quick summary.

First fifteen minutes were dominated by QPR, with a couple of half chances for them that came to nothing.
Rest of the first half, Rovers were on top, and unlucky not to be leading at the break. How neither the free kick, nor the follow up went in, I still don't know.
Second half, and the ball fell kindly to QPR in the box, and their player finished well. Slightly unfortunate, but these things happen. Then Coppinger hit the bar with a curling shot from quite a narrow angle.
The msin turning point was the second goal though. The referee waved play on from an absolutely blatent handball in midfield, and QPR broke away, with their player attempting to round Sullivan, in a fairly wide position. I thought Sullivan got a touch, but the ref gave a penalty. This in itself was a stupid decission, as they had already put the ball in the net.
The third was a poor goal to concede; a simple far post corner headed in.

However, a very good performance, spoilt by the referee. If he had given the free kick for handball at 1-0, we could easily have got something from the game, as we were getting on top at that stage. The second goal killed us.

I always find it a strange decision by a ref when they book the goalie and give a pen and don't send them off, by definition they have always got to be the last man. It shows that he wasn't sure he got the situation right, and should hang his head in shame if that were the case, because that one decision decided the game effectively. Warnock has been effusive in his assessment of Rovers \"they will end up in the top 6\" better than last year after beating his Palace side.

Just seen the goals. I reckon Sulli got a touch on that. Not that it would have made a difference as he scored anyway.

There were no own goals yet QPR managed to score three times from only two shots on target?

No wonder they're top of the league.

I don;t think a penalty counts as a shot on target.
