Right, I've been on JSA as funnily enough I've been trying to find a job
Anyhow, I now have a job but don't start until next week. I have told them this but as they plan to pay me up until the day I start next week, I have to attend a session where I'll be advised on how to find a job. Now I've managed to find one and also been offered another this week aswell, yet still they say I either go or pay them money back, what a waste of time that is. And people wonder why the system gets slated.

Go, take the piss and show them how pointless it is, tell them while you`re there they are taking the piss!

Another thing, how long have you been on JSA? because you can claim a back to work payment or something like that if you`ve been unemployed long enough
Back to work Job Grant (http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Employedorlookingf)

Only 6 weeks as I had to wait for my payments from my last job to stop before claiming so I doubt I'm eligible.

Congratulations on the job Andy.. :)
As for the rest, that doesn't suprise me one little bit. I read the other day of a lad who had a second interview , furthest he had got in months of trying to find work..The only thing was the jobcenter insisted he went on one of these stupid are you actively looking for work things , telling him that if he missed it he would lose his benefit, and no he couldn't rechedule, he felt he had no choice so had to miss the job interview to meet his commitments with the job center... It can be a very wierd system at times.
I can understand why he felt he had no choice, once they start messing round with your benefits it can take months for them to right themselves again.

My daughter has just completed level 2 in hairdressing and has been a junior in a salon for 2 years, she now wants to go on to do level 3 and is trying to find another work placement, however this is prooving rather difficult. If she doesn't find anything in the next few weeks she will have to claim JSA and the last 2 years will have been slave labour for zilch. Why can't the jobcentre help people get work by paying them their allowance whilst training for a proffession
If anyone knows a salon that wants a junior stylist for £2.50 an hour for the next 12 months please pm me.
