What does everyone think to teenagers setting off fireworks in the housing estates? I live next to a park and there are fireworks being set off right next to our house... surely there are some sort of community support that are supposed to stop this? And how do they manage to buy them so easily?!

I think the only fireworks allowed should be at public displays. I hate them.
It's the only time apart from anyone upsetting my kids that I turn into the exorcist.
I'm not ashamed to admit that you can probably hear me on the fifth shouting in a very anglo saxon way about selfish people who can't even wait till a decent time to disrupt the peace and quiet.
And why is it everyone seems to want rockets that would be at home in a huge display? what is wrong with the splutter, splutter fizzle we had as kids?
My poor cats are petrified of them. My big terror is that one of them will bolt under a car, and get squished.
It wouldn't be so bad if they stuck to the 5th, but nooo, bonfire night seems to stretch for a week either side these days. :angry:

few! glad its not just me then :) our cats are scared too... i don't really see the point in setting one off at a time!? they don't look good or anything haha. They do together but I still have to be at a distance :dry:

The ironic thing is, it is illegal to buy christmas crackers or party poppers under the age of sixteen as they are incendary devices.(I kid you not)....Yet someone has to be selling these kids the fireworks illegally.

That is part of the problem, the other is people getting display fireworks and setting them of in a 3 foot square garden.
I don't actually have a issue with them if used properly and on the night/weekend of the 5th I normally go to the Standard firework factory shop at Huddersfield which is actually at the factory (much better value and you know what quality you are getting)
Problem is how could it all be policed we can't police the local young idiots and criminals which really points to the only way forward is organised displays only.

I don't mind the proper displays, or if someone knows what they're doing really! Having said that, our local display is at the scout hut in Scawsby... right next to the petrol station! They have to close it for so many hours on the night!
More people seem to be setting them off since the supermarkets started selling them... I mean how strict are they in Aldi?!

When we lived in Scawsby when I was a kid I was a cub scout there, great fireworks display to be fair always a good evening out.

It is the best one I've been to, its not that I don't like! I'm just surprised they can do it! I suppose it is safer now there's only one petrol station next door :laugh:

Mind you they've not had any fuel there for about a week!
