Title: Thanksgiving Day
Post by: I-was-there1976 on November 25, 2010, 02:28:33 pm
Ive just googled it to see why Americans have the day off when the rest of us are keeping the world ticking and it seems it first started in whatever year when the English landed on their shores.

So there you have it.

You can all have tomorrow off instead.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone

Cheers!  Actually it's the day we all overeat and the menfolk watch (American) football all day!

Thanks for the thought!  :)

But it's back to the kitchen for me.

Nah, wasn't really Dagenham. But luckily I do like to cook, and dislike (American) football -- I'm really more of a girly girl, except when it comes to your footy.  Then I'm a tomboy!

SL, I do hope you are reinforcing our stereotyped image by making snicker-doodles (sp?) whilst listening to Bing Crosby.

I think you're mixing up your stereotypes, Woking.  Snicker doodles are what we eat at summer camp, whilst sitting around the campfire, singing Kumbaya.  And Bing is for Christmas!

My mom loved Andy Williams and we grew up listening to him, and I still have 'Moon River' on my ipod.

P.S.  If the words in caps are your thoughts Woking, very funny, but a bit scary as well!  ;-)

They'll be a few turkeys chuckling tonight.

(English joke, for our American friends)

Is it just me, or has the irony of Bernard Matthews demise on a Thanksgiving gone un-noticed?  (http://www.drfc-vsc.co.uk/media/kunena/attachments/legacy/images/lost.gif)

Hey, I'm funny sometimes.

So the doctor says anyway. Just ask a question and I'll answer. Daftly.
