Title: SPOTY 2010
Post by: CusworthRovers on December 11, 2010, 10:56:10 am
Contenders are:

AP McCoy
Lee Westwood
Graeme McDowell
Phil Taylor
Tom Daley
Amy Williams
Jessica Ennis
Graeme Swann
David Haye
Mark Cavendish

Not sure about Williams and Daleys credentials but the other have achieved great things this year. Daley will probably grab the young award anyway.

AP's record is tremendous. Westwood has ended the year World No1, which hasn't been done for a bit, Macca the majors and both on the back of the Ryder Cup. Surely team of the year (Ryder Cup). Cavendish has done wonders in the Tour.

Although It will not happen The Powers achievements are way above all the others, and as the end of his power may be coming soon now, he for me, deserves the honour before or should that day come.

I hope Ennis wins it as she's a right minx.

Taylor pissed on his chips when he was stripped of his MBE.

Which might be true if it were decided by a panel of judges from wherever. But this is a public vote (well that's what we're told) so it comes down to what we decide (in theory).

Top three could well be Westwood, Ennis & Haye....order, well i'm not sure

What about :

Team of the Year...probably Ryder Cup team
Overseas SPOTY ?
Young SPOTY...probably Tom Daley
Coach of the Year ?
Helen Rollason Award ?

Nobody has dominated their chosen sport in the way that Phil Taylor has for the last 15 years. On his day he is absolutely unbeatable and a joy to behold.

His record in darts will stand as a benchmark for years and years to come and quite possibly will never be matched.

Darts is becoming more and more popular with more tournaments being televised to a wider audience - for me he should be an absolute shoe-in for the award.

Sadly, he will never win it - it'll go to some sportsman/woman who, despite being undoubtedly good in their field, probably won't have a personality.

Sad really

Phil \"Feel\" Taylor hasn't got a personality so shouldn't win the award either going by your criteria.

The groper.
