Title: Urgent shopping advice needed
Post by: RedJ on January 10, 2011, 06:40:56 pm
I need to know a shop - preferably in town but anywhere close to Doncaster will do - where I can pick up a \"retro\" style t-shirt, as cheap as possible.

Thanks in advance, anyone who can help.

If it's for fancy dress etc. I know a place I used near the dingles which was good.

I wish I could... I was hoping someone else would know, I've not got a bloody clue. I think it's like something made today in the style of older fashion, or something like that..

 No shit!

Like Gillingham Rover said, charity shops are probably your best bet, unless you want something new in which case I haven't got a clue where to get them but you might want to look for:

Fred Perry polo shirt - first popular in the 60's?

A lot of the T-shirts with slogans on are based on old US surf designs

Sports T-shirts - as a kid in the 70's we always wore adidas t-shirts with 3 stripes down the sleeve, not sure if you can get them down.

It depends on the era, as stated Adidas for 70's or anything with large collars. 80's for slogans. Your best bet is on the net for ideas then you would have more of an idea what it is your looking for. Already stated but Charity shops are a good bet.

I used to have a Rovers t-shirt that looked like someone had thrown a tin of red and green paint over it with \"The Rovers\" written graffiti stylee. Proper bo I tell thee.

Anyone else had one of those in the early 90s?

I had one of them Nudga - fcukin ace they were! Managed to pick some stuff up in primark of all places the other week with Atari signs, Pac Man and Superman emblem as examples - are these retro?

Can't remember anybody in the late-70's wearing Atari/pacman T-shirts (or maybe I wasn't hanging out with the cool kids!)

think that's just manufacturer's slapping a 70's logo on a t-shirt to make it look retro rather than it actually being retro

You won't find anything like this selection in good old Donny.

Ebay the one stop lazy shop. :)
